About this listen

Getting into prison is easy; it’s getting out that’s tricky.

Almost everyone in prison will tell you they’re in there for a crime they didn’t commit, but Anthony Rourke really means it. That’s because he’s actually Bunny McGarry, who has got himself into one of Nevada’s finest penitentiaries under false pretenses. He is there to bust someone else out.

The Sisters of the Saint, no ordinary bunch of nuns, find themselves caught between a rock and a hard place when two of their order are taken hostage. The only way to ensure their safe return is to trade them for the mysterious man who is now Bunny’s cellmate. Rumors abound as to who this man really is, but seeing as nobody is allowed to communicate with him in any way, figuring that out will be tricky.

The last thing the situation needs is further complications, but when Sister Dionne comes into contact with an UFO cult, she recognizes it as a massive con job. The reason she is so sure is because the whole thing was her idea in the first place - and now, she is determined to put an end to it.

The clock is ticking, the prison authorities are suspicious, and lying low has never been a McGarry strong suit. Can Bunny and the Sisters pull off an audacious prison break against near impossible odds? It’s The Shawshank Redemption meets Ocean’s Eleven.

The Quiet Man is book three in the McGarry Stateside series by Caimh McDonnell. McDonnell’s work has been praised for bringing a fresh voice to the thriller genre. He deftly combines a finely honed comic sensibility with pulse-pounding action which have made his books Amazon best sellers the world over.

Caimh's writing, Morgan's narration, at its finest

Caimh's writing, Morgan's narration, at its finest. This series has generally been a revelation, first of all for me since 2012/13, then latterly my wife who has flown through all but 2 (at time of writing) of Caimh's books.

Outstanding

I loved the intricately worked out plot shenanigans, and, as ever, the superlative narration of Michael C Jones, who brings to life every one of a large cast of characters.

Thoroughly enjoyable

Since finding Caimh's work, I've been hooked!

I rather think I've fallen just a little bit in love with Bunny McGarry, and the way he is written ☺.

This was a great story, amazingly read as usual by Morgan C. Jones. I can't wait for the next installment!!

Last in the series?

I’ve done some searching and can’t find any mention of another book in the series. If this is the last book then the series has a very disappointing ending. I enjoyed this book and the previous two, but… what happens to…?

Absolutely love these books

Love all Caimh McDonnel books but the Bunny books are my favourite. Characters are superbly written and feel like friends. I love that they make me laugh out loud, although it bugs my partner. I don’t know how to convey just how brilliant the narration by Morgan C Jones is. Joy was yet another brilliant character, wonderfully brought to life. If you’ve never read/listened to a Bunny book then I’d definitely recommend getting the earlier books first. You’ll enjoy them all the more for doing so. Ps thanks to Jason Manford for recommending the Dublin Trilogy on his radio show.
