Summary

Families. Sometimes they're a bloody nightmare....

Life with the Radleys: Radio 4, dinner parties with the Bishopthorpe neighbours and self-denial. Loads of self-denial. But all hell is about to break loose. When teenage daughter Clara gets attacked on the way home from a party, she and her brother, Rowan, finally discover why they can't sleep, can't eat a Thai salad without fear of asphyxiation and can't go outside unless they're smothered in factor 50.

With a visit from their lethally louche uncle Will and an increasingly suspicious police force, life in Bishopthorpe is about to change. Drastically.

Great fun

I was a bit disappointed when I realised it was another vampire story, but this was fun and fresh and it kept me entertained

easy to listen to, good performance

Interesting themes and easy story to listen to. Pleasant performance. At times felt a bit like adolescent fiction.

Missed potential

This felt like it could have been so much better than it actually was. I wasn't keen on the narrator, and the writing in the present tense just felt odd. Not for me.

A good listen

I didn’t realise the subject matter at first or I probably wouldn’t have read it, however I actually enjoyed this book.

Entertaining

This is a nice read when one wants to get diconnected from reality. Easy to follow and very well read.

Family drama with fangs

If you can get over the vampire/bloodthirsty vibe this is a well told family drama. As usual Haig has woven the mythical into the 21st century artfully & the plot keeps you guessing. Didn't love the characters but I think that might have been intentional? #walkerbookrv #booktwt
