Summary

John Flanagan makes a spectacular return to the world of Ranger’s Apprentice with the revelation of a conspiracy that could end the Kingdom!

John Flanagan returns to the world of Ranger’s Apprentice to find out what happens when Will’s apprentice, Maddie - the Royal Ranger - returns home to Castle Araluen. The Kingdom may have been at peace for a number of years, but there are always those who would commit treason to take power for themselves. When Maddie learns of a plot against the crown, she must go undercover to find out more - and hopefully stop it. But going undercover isn’t easy when you’re the princess - even if you’re trained as a Ranger.

Following on from Ranger's Apprentice: The Royal Ranger is a second book of Maddie's adventures. Princess by day, Ranger's apprentice by night, Maddie must keep her identity secret at all costs, for the sake of the Kingdom.

So disappointed

Listened to the entire series and loved the charters and changing story lines, Zappa has brought them all to live then I’ve endured listening to keating systematically destroy each character with his terrible accents and complete inability to read properly. I’m begging you, change narrator, Keating couldn’t read a menu!!

changed the voice actor

i dont understand why they would change from a perfectly good voice actor to a new one that cant do voices and just doesnt fit the story, he doesnt know how they sounds so he just does the same voice for all of them

Shame! I have upto now really enjoyed this series

I'm sure that this narrator would be great on other stories, but when you really enjoy a character, that's well established giving him a stupid accent and reading much faster than the original spoils it. So just lost a fan!! and future purchases.

What has happened to Halt

Somehow the stoic, calm and slow spoken Halt has started to speak like a cross between a dim Dubliner and a prepubescent Leprechaun. Otherwise the voicing is fine but the voice actor is letting himself and an excellent story down.

Dreadful new narrator

Why change from an excellent narrator to one who can't do voices? It's an audiobook, the narrator is key!

only half a book , what the heck

I bought all of John Flanagan s books religiously because he's a good writer but now I see he is only after my money, I listened with pleasure the book and got very angry when the action started and the audiobooks ended. cheap trick for shame.

not as good as the ones before this one

the change in readers wasn't the best choice and felt like the story was dragged out to make two book out of it explanations that where 10 to 20 mins long happened a couple of times and no second part book 3 is missing

Disappointing & frustrating

Beware this is a different narrator to the previous John Flanagan Ranger books. The narration is painfully bad. No effort has been made for the characters to have similar accents to the previous books. Also there are SO many holes in this story! It is ridiculously implausible! This is not up to John’s usual standard of writing. I spent the whole book cringing in response to the narration, on the verge of turning it off. My perseverance was wasted as there is no resolution to the story as it ends with “to be continued”! The Brotherband series also uses this narrator so I will not buy them. A frustrating & disappointing purchase.
