About this listen

Finally, the knight Sparhawk had come to possess Bhelliom, legendary jewel of magic that alone could save Queen Ehlana from the deadly poison that had felled her father. Sparhawk and Sephrenia, ageless instructor in Styric magics, made haste to free Ehlana from the crystalline cocoon that had preserved her life while they desperately sought a cure.

But Bhellion carried dangers of its own. Once the stone came into his hands, Sparhawk found himself stalked by a dark, lurking menace. Whether the foul Zemoch god Azash was behind this threat, or some other enemy, even Sephrenia could not say - only that the sapphire rose held powers too dangerous for any mortal to bear.

Restoring Queen Ehlana would only be the beginning of Sparhawk's mission. With the aid of four stalwart knights, one from each Militant Order, he must thwart Ehlana's poisoner, the Primate Annias, in his plot to assume the throne of the Church. For, as Archprelate, Annias would serve his secret master, Azash, and deliver up to the dread god the one thing Azash thirsted for - Bhelliom itself!

Critic reviews

"Eddings should satisfy his many fans with the final volume of his Elenium fantasy trilogy, an adroit mixture of the exalted and the mundane." ( Publishers Weekly)

Enjoyed the series

Have you listened to any of Greg Abby’s other performances? How does this one compare?

The same as the others. Took a little while to adjust to the reading in the first book but no problems after that.

Narrator isn't native speaker of English.

I love the story. The narrator sadly left much to be desired. His pronunciation of many standard English words is idiosyncratic to say the least. His characterization of the voices of different characters is difficult to distinguish between individuals at times.

Certainly would, bags of action and beautifully narrated

Sparhawk, he's almost an anti-hero but carries the story well

Probably Sparhawk although all the characters were well performed by Greg Abby

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Nope, it is just one cracking good book

Any additional comments?

An excellent book that holds your interest all the way through and read by a great performer

Greg; punctuation!

Mr Abby, the purpose of punctuation in a story, is to pace the narrative to the scene the author is creating. Your ignoring of punctuation makes the story jarring and uncomfortable. Also, expressing appropriate emotion might be worth considering. Just a thought.

The Elenium Triology

Just finished the whole triology, enjoyed listening to this as much as I did reading it so many years ago. Sometimes the main characters are a little too invincible but it is still highly enjoyable all the same. Very well narrated too.
