About this listen

The moment that changes everything....

Henrietta Gaydon is making her debut in London society for the Season, but her popularity and apparent ease disguises the fact that she is out of her depth and that she dreads the objective of finding a husband. She longs for home, her father and Lord Henfield, whom she has always treated as an older brother.

Charles Henfield stopped thinking of Henrietta like a sister when she was sixteen and he is determined to try his luck with her in London. Mistakes and misunderstandings, the complication of a feud between families, and Henrietta’s no longer fraternal feelings for Henfield, all conspire to make this a Season to remember.

Well delivered

Narrator was spot on, the story was lovely, some say slow but quite witty i laughed a few times.
I think cleverly written.

A joyous listen

I would have given this story 5 if there had not been echoes of Arabella by Georgette Heyer with the brother in trouble. I feel the author could have found something more original of their own.

Lovely

Sophia Holloway does it again - another clean RR true to the period. The narrator did a good job

A nice story

It was a very similar storyline to Jane Austen's Emma. But I did enjoy listening it.

Enjoyable but a little lacking in characterisation

I have very much enjoyed Sophia Holloway’s other books; The Devil You Know being my favourite. I found the characterisation a little lacking in this, particularly regarding Henrietta. It’s an enjoyable enough listen though and still vastly superior to a lot of this genre. For a similar but better story I would highly recommend Jude Morgan’s A Little Folly.

Similar to a Georgette Heyer

Obviously modelled on a Georgette Heyer recency romance, this is for the most part successful, an enjoyable piece of fan fiction. And it seems to me a welcome addition to any recency romance library. The narrator could however have been better though, particularly as there were so many Lords in the story that some different sounding voices would have helped the listener to differentiate who was who, especially at the beginning. I'm looking forward to some more Sophia Hollway's.

Light and lovely

If you enjoy regency romances then this is for you. Predictable, but beautifully executed plot.

Narrator let this down

Narrator drove me mad with her boring voice, so could not finish it - it might have been a good story (I like the author) but the reader NO.

Do not think to buy this

The most boring and longwinded story and narration ever. Good for sending one to sleep.
