Worth listening to as a stand alone but will be interested to continue this series. Narrator is easy to listen to

Enjoyable

First time reading this author's genre, and I'm transported back to society at the break of the SWW. Makes one think in the light of today's wars. .

Great story, spoiled by poor reading

The story is great, good historical background and likeable characters but slightly spoiled by the reader mispronouncing words - for example disreputable and sedan and two that stood out, plus using the wrong intonation. In spite of that, I really enjoyed the story and have bought book 2.

Not the usual leading female character.

As with several audio books now, it would appear that the readings are not checked for intonation or pronunciation, which spoils the listening.
