About this listen
Though Emma survived the car accident, her memories are hazy. Sometimes she can hear snatches of her friend's screams, or smell the fumes of petrol. Most of all, though, she sees the shadowy man who saved her life. No one else saw him. And as he pulled her from the wreckage, he promised he would always stay right behind her. But where is he now?

A nice story
The book catches your attentation from the start, I finished it in one day. Nevertheless, if you are looking for the typical relaxing and sweet romance book, don't go for this one. The book goes deeper, sometimes it's very sad. I don't even remember the last time I cried while reading a book but the last chapter... I didn't stand a chance. You will almost certainly cry at the end.
This is my first book by Dani Atkins. Her writing is a very nice surprise. It is captivating and I will definitely try more of her books.

A lovely Story.
A great story, beautifully written, I cried at the end. The first few chapters are tough going, don't read/listen if you've recently been in a RTC. The story is great, captivating. Couldn't stop listening .

Not what it said in the tin...a misleading blurb.
If this book wasn’t for you, who do you think might enjoy it more?
Someone who enjoys a light, fluffy, predictable read with no great surprises. Someone who enjoys an easy read to wash over them.
What will your next listen be?
Nothing in this genre.
How could the performance have been better?
I don't think the performance was bad, I just don't think the voice artist was given an opportunity to prove what they can really do. Therefore the performance was dull.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Story of Us?
I would have changed the storyline. Unfortunately it was a chocolate box story with cringed clichés everywhere.
Any additional comments?
This book was not for me and I was quite annoyed because the blurb was very misleading. Had I know what the true story was about and the genre it fits in I never would have chosen to read it.

I did not enjoy this book!
The story was cheesy and descriptive to the point of being cringeworthy. I could predict ahead everything that was happening and although the emotion and setting was far too descriptive, there was no depth to the emotion. I liked the way Richard wasn't made a villain yet I was left feeling no empathy for Emma and that she used him.
The narrator was ok but every single s pronounced, even in the lowest tone, hurt my ears.
I am glad I only listened to it when I was driving but even so wish I could have my time back.
