About this listen
Penguin presents the unabridged downloadable audiobook edition of The Things You Can See Only When You Slow Down by Haemin Sunim, read by Sean Pratt.
'Is it the world that's busy, or my mind?'
The world moves fast, but that doesn't mean we have to. In this timely guide to mindfulness, Haemin Sunim, a Buddhist monk born in Korea and educated in the United States, offers advice on everything from handling setbacks to dealing with rest and relationships. Haemin Sunim's simple messages - which he first wrote when he responded to requests for advice on social media - speak directly to the anxieties that have become part of modern life and remind us of the strength and joy that come from slowing down.
Hugely popular in Korea, Haemin Sunim is a Zen meditation teacher whose teachings transcend religions and borders and resonate with people of all ages. With insight and compassion drawn from a life full of change, the 'mega-monk' succeeds at encouraging all of us to notice that when you slow down, the world slows down with you.

personally for me the style of delivery felt deeply conflicting but that is the nature of paradoxes for you

Inspirational.
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would definitely recommend this audiobook to a friend. I found it very engaging and thought-provoking.
What did you like best about this story?
I liked that the simplest things are the ones that bring us more happiness, but obviously we are too busy to look out for them,
Have you listened to any of Sean Pratt’s other performances? How does this one compare?
I found the narration to be a bit "robotic-like". But overall very enjoyable.
Any additional comments?
It's a worthwhile listening. It goes straight to the point and offers good advice for several areas of our lives. It is up to us to put them into practice.

Superficial wisdom
Short and to the point with philosophical wisdom but lacked the depth to make the messages meaningful and be able to absorb the content, as it just jumped from one opinion to another.
It is a bad place to start if you haven’t previously read more detailed spiritual books on Buddhism and from the likes of Eckhart Tolle and Michael Singer.
