About this listen
Forbes #1 Career Book to Read in 2018
The National Best Seller
The larger-than-life journey of an 18-year-old college freshman who set out from his dorm room to track down Bill Gates, Lady Gaga, and dozens more of the world’s most successful people to uncover how they broke through and launched their careers.
The Third Door takes listeners on an unprecedented adventure—from hacking Warren Buffett’s shareholders meeting to chasing Larry King through a grocery store to celebrating in a nightclub with Lady Gaga—as Alex Banayan travels from icon to icon, decoding their success. After remarkable one-on-one interviews with Bill Gates, Maya Angelou, Steve Wozniak, Jane Goodall, Larry King, Jessica Alba, Pitbull, Tim Ferriss, Quincy Jones, and many more, Alex discovered the one key they have in common: they all took the Third Door.
Life, business, success...it’s just like a nightclub. There are always three ways in. There’s the First Door: the main entrance, where 99 percent of people wait in line, hoping to get in. The Second Door: the VIP entrance, where the billionaires and celebrities slip through. But what no one tells you is that there is always, always… the Third Door. It’s the entrance where you have to jump out of line, run down the alley, bang on the door 100 times, climb over the dumpster, crack open the window, sneak through the kitchen—there’s always a way in. Whether it’s how Bill Gates sold his first piece of software or how Steven Spielberg became the youngest studio director in Hollywood history, they all took the Third Door.

Brilliant and entertaining
I found myself looking forward to driving to and from work so I could listen more to the story. Alex tells his experience, the ups and downs, successes and mistakes in a fantastic way. The last chapter however, left me crying in the car, mascara down my face. Deeply touching and raw with emotion. I can’t wait to hear more from this author.

Want to change your life? Read this book
To be honest, I dont like the phrase "self help" as these days it tends to conjure up images of super energetic "gurus" fist pumping and telling you to "just get sh*t done"
This book is less self help in the conventional sense, and more of a lifestyle choice. Being successful in your chosen endeavor does not happen by following "10 tips to be a millionaire / billionaire / the next elon musk / live on mars etc. Instead its something that you obsess about, live, breathe and hustle until it becomes a reality.
Alex's story wonderfully demonstrates what you need to be doing and how you need to be thinking if you want to shoot for something more than average. if you want to be super entertained while simultaneously changing your life, then get this book!

Enjoy the journey!!!
To me this book seemed more like a memoir and I felt it was a great read (or listen). There are many things I liked about this book
1. Simplicity - anyone can understand and not get bored
2. Audacity - (from 1st person perspective) and the narrative style make it relate-able
3. Tenacity
At some points I felt the book was long winded, hence my 4 stars for the Story - else this book is worth every pound (dollar). While I was acquainted to some concepts - the journey of Alex is what make this book special and it keeps wanting to you to find out what happens next.
I highly recommend this book if you are starting out in your life (or) if you are searching for what is in store for you. The "third door" may or may not illuminate you - depending on your age, exposure, background. However, it will for sure encourage you to dream and dream boldly.
