Summary

Karl Strong is lonely. Not quite alone, which is, perhaps, worse.

His best friend moved away, his mother died, and his father has crawled into a hole and pulled it in after him.

He is a talented athlete, but after high school, he lets himself go and dies of a heart attack. Luckily, this is Middle Falls, where death is rarely the end of the story.

Karl will have every chance to find what he needs.

The Tumultuous Lives of Karl Strong is the eighteenth book in The Middle Falls Time Travel series. Like all books in the series, it can be enjoyed as a standalone or in order.

Contains a special note from the author.

Thanks Shawn. The Middle Falls series are my favourite of your books.

Nice addition to the series

I have read all 18 of the series and have enjoyed everyone of them. This one seemed a little different; a little more shallow and a less intense than the others. I can't quite put my finger on what was missing but it felt less emotional overall. I think there was a certain complexity to the character that was missing. There was a type of detachment, that's not normally associated with a Shawn Inmon Middle Falls book.

Having said that, it was still an enjoyable listen, and I'd still recommend it.

Tumultuous indeed

I tried so hard to not listen to this book too quickly, fearing the wait for another Middle Falls instalment. I obviously got it as soon as it was available but held on to it as long as I could.

Loved it, not that I was expecting anything else! Love the characterisation, overlap characters and storylines. Particularly I loved the journey more than ever before and I’m so glad Shawn doesn’t seem to have much, if any intention of continuing Marge’s narrative. I know life can be hard but she was unnecessarily cruel to Karl. Yes, he needed to grow and develop but from the outset he seemed a lovely character and, in the end, he did get the life he deserved.

More please Mr Inmon!

Karl Strong

One thing that compelled me to write a review was the annoyingly repetitive Artys. Can you please stop with the milkshakes. Your next character should be someone who doesn’t like milkshake.
Karl strong was a fairly boring character to be fair. It was nice to see him not so wrapped up in money like a lot of other characters before him. But it was almost like he hadn’t seen the full potential of the do overs. It was great to see a happy ending. But at the same time I nearly didn’t listen to the last 30 minutes. I could see it was going to be predictable. Eric was a likeable character.
I do enjoy Middle falls and I’d listen to the next one.
Just please write a character that doesn’t jabber on about burgers and shakes. It’s been done to death.

Another great Middle Falls book

I have thoroughly enjoyed all the books in the series and this is no exception. Narrated brilliantly by Scott Brick. I lot forward to the next book with great anticipation.
