About this listen
This audiobook is skilfully and inspiringly read by the author, Damian Hughes.
In The Winning Mindset, Professor Damian Hughes, the acclaimed author of Liquid Thinking and How to Think Like Sir Alex Ferguson, draws on both his lifetime experience and academic background within sport, organization and change psychology to reveal the best ways to create a winning mindset in both personal and professional life.
Having worked with some of the top teams in the UK, and watched some of the best coaches in the country at work, Hughes distils the five keys principles that separate the best coaches and teams from the rest: Simplicity; Tripwires; Emotions; Practical; Stories: STEPS.
The role of a sports-team leader is fascinating, complex and tough. Fantasy football leagues may convince us that success is all about buying players and selecting a team. In reality, it is about creating winning environments – recruiting, developing and nurturing talent, effectively communicating a shared vision with a diverse collection of individuals, delivering on enormous expectations from a range of stakeholders, overcoming significant challenges, handling pressure and staying focused throughout: a set of challenges familiar to leaders in all sectors.

Excellent and fascinating way to learn leadership!
I thoroughly enjoyed listening to the author read his own words. It added to the experience of listening and learning. If you are a sport enthusiast the examples that litter the book will be a fascinating adjunct to the underlying message. If like me you are not sporty or particularly interested in sport the book still delivers powerful insights into delivering better talks or messages to others.
You get the full benefit you might have to listen several times. But even after listening once through there were many important and actually quite simple techniques that can be adapted to everyday use where you have to address others or galvanise people into improvement.

What a fabulous audiobook. Damian’s narration keeps you unfailingly interested.
I really like the way Damian splits the book up into Five simple steps with really easy to use take home messages that you can learn today and use tomorrow.
The examples are really entertaining with some awesome stories from the world of sport and beyond.
Damian can you put more of your books on audio please. They really make the commute go quickly and I find on getting to work I don’t want to switch off.
