Bloomsbury presents Three Women by Lisa Taddeo, read by Lisa Taddeo, Tara Lynne Barr, Marin Ireland and Mena Suvari.

The international number one best seller.

All Lina wanted was to be desired. How did she end up in a marriage with two children and a husband who wouldn’t touch her?

All Maggie wanted was to be understood. How did she end up in a relationship with her teacher and then in court, a hated pariah in her small town?

All Sloane wanted was to be admired. How did she end up a sexual object of men, including her husband, who liked to watch her have sex with other men and women?

The book Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Alexa Chung, Jodie Comer, Reese Witherspoon, Harry Styles, Fearne Cotton, Caitriona Balfe, Gwyneth Paltrow, Sharon Horgan, Zoe Ball, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Davina McCall, Gemma Chan, Christine and the Queens and Gillian Anderson are all reading.

Brilliant analysis of women’s sexuality in their own words

Brilliant analysis of how their sexuality is used by men to manipulate them. And the fact that it is all in the words of three fairly ordinary women adds to its impact. Extraordinary insight into something most women will recognise all too well. Great narration too

The excruciating tales of lives of three women

This is the true story of three real women, Lina, Maggie and Sloane. They are voiced by three different narrators and we hear their stories unwind as they reveal their deepest and darkest secrets. This makes for uncomfortable listening at times as the stories are graphic and at times disturbing. No one can fault the author or the people behind these stories from glossing over the facts and we hear of their complex desires. I was unsure I would like this after the first few chapter it felt like something out of Cosmo magazine, but as each of the stories evolved it was impossible not to feel empathy for these brave women. The epilogue is particularly poignant. Recommended.

Amazing, but...

This book was both incredibly well written and wonderfully performed. I finished it within a week, the stories of each of the women detailed within it were so evocative and thought provoking and I adore the way Taddedo writes. However, there was one slight negative, for me - and this is personal preference- but there was just so many sex scenes, so graphic and lengthy that it really did make me feel uncomfortable listening to it at times! the parts of the book I enjoyed most, and that are honestly most important, were the feelings and thoughts of the women. The sex just became repetitive and didn’t add much for me other than embarrassment one time when I was out walking and my AirPods disconnected and somehow my phone began playing from its speaker! Awkward

Fascinating!

Wow what an insight! Women baring their biggest fears and passionate desires; how their lives turn at the whim of a man. Women and their fragile balance, their need for love despite male betrayal and selfishness. Very thought provoking and insightful , I would highly recommend ( jfyi there is detailed description of sex, but this is not a pornographic book.) A fully engaging read.

Even better than I expected

I'm a busy mum with 2 children under 5 and a business to run but I found/made time to listen to the entire audiobook in 4 days. Totally addictive, very well written and I'm so sad that it's over..

OK...slow ending, good middle, slow start.

there are graphic parts to this book but it is integral to understanding how life and their experiences have shaped the needs and desires of these women. narration is ok...I struggled to concentrate at times with the harsh monotonous American drawly tone though. I lost interest towards the end.

Insightful look into how we judge others

It was difficult to step away from this audiobook. The emotions are vivid and honest and the stories of each women told in unique ways. It has mature themes but they are all relevant and in context. Highly recommend
