About this listen
To whom it may concern,
I can't be sure what you're into. That being said, if you like sexy and sweet romance with a whole lot of quirk, keep reading...
Ever since Clay Saxon's parents passed away a year ago, he's been stuck in a rut, running their business, and suffering from the worst writer's block ever. But when Syrus Albie, a.k.a. yellow sweater guy (you'll see), walks into The End Book Store, Clay's mundane little world turns to sunshine.
I don't want to ruin it, but I can definitely say, when an introverted-as-hell narrator finally meets his favorite author and crush, all of his usual protocols go up in flames.
Set in the For Him world, this stand-alone is the perfect introduction or addition to this steamy MM collection.
Sincerely yours,
A.M. Johnson

short and sweet with all the feels!
Independent reviewer for gay Romance Reviews, I was gifted the audio version of this book.
To Whom It May Concern,
This is book 3.5 in the For Him series. I didn't read/listen to the others, but they are all stand alone books, so I didn't miss anything by not doing. I WILL, at some point, either read or listen to those books though!
This is a delightfully sweet, cute and quick read/listen.
I loved the meeting, the instant attaction, but slow burn to get more physical. I loved that Clay made Syrus push his self infliction boundaries and strict rules. I loved that Syrus made Clay feel again after so long.
I did not love the ending. It does say, "the end, for now" at the end but I still found it kinda cut off mid scene, almost!
I loved the dual narration by Aaron Shedlock and Kirt Graves. I don't think I've listened to Shedlock before. I don't know who voiced which character here, but I did have to slow my narration speed when listening to Clay. But that's not a fault on the narration, more a production. Once I'd settled on a slightly slower speed, things were better for me.
But the thing I'm left with, the thing that I NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED is this: I want to read the book Clay wrote! I want to read The Branches Between Us! And it pains me, deeply, because I know I can't!
So, all in all, a short, sweet, cute read/listen, that I hope and pray will be given a follow up!
4 stars overall
much love,
me.

short but very sweet
A.M Johnson is a new to me author, so I had no expectations for this novella. However, I thoroughly enjoyed her writing style, and Clay and Syrus's love story was beautiful.
It is an Instalove book, but with characters with different social needs. I will be looking out for more books/audios from this author, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
A new to me narrator Aaron Shedlock partnered up with Kirt Graves, who I have listened to on many occasions. They were a pleasure to listen to, clean and concise. I speed this narration up to 1.25 on Audible, which is usual for me.

I received this audiobook for free from GRR at my request. My review is my opinion and an honest review - neither the author nor GRR influenced my opinion.

Lovely
I really love the way AM Johnson writes, there's a real gentleness and I always feel warm and fuzzy after reading one of their stories. This was sweet, funny, sexy and had a lot of heart. Highly recommended, and now I think I need to go back and read the other books again :)
The narration was spot on.

Lovely meet cute novella
The narrators, Kirt Graves and Aaron Shedlock, did an excellent job, especially with the exchanged emails, even though their pacing was not the same. Kirt Graves has a more drawled style than Aaron Shedlock faster one. I was contemplating if I would have to toggle between speeds for the story but in the end I could follow along fine.
Clay lost his parents the year before and works in the bookstore they owned. His writing career is at a standstill because of grief. That is till an exchange with a cute customer, where that customer quotes his book, breathes lightness into Clay. And when that shy, cute customer ends up being the voice actor that put a request into narrating his book, well Clay can't wait to meet with him and talk.
Syrus has his lists, his factoids to fill in awkward silences, his routines and schedules. He likes being a voice actor because he can work from home and everything can be done by email. He takes upon himself then to put a request to narrate his favorite book. Who knew that the author was so close that they could meet in person. Does Syrus want to meet in person? He's not comfortable in social situations and making eye contact so how come he accepts a date with Clay?
It really is sweet to see Syrus's world expanding to make room for Clay and Clay accepting Syrus as is, without pushing for more.
I don't mind that their story will continue in the newsletter and I'll definitely follow it. But if you have to ask why the 3 stars and not more, it was because even though there was chemistry the excitement was missing and I need that bit of thrill.
I received a code for this audio book through Audible and this is my honest and voluntary review.

Lovely listen
I’m new to this series and so wasn’t sure to expect. The blurb says it is a stand-alone and that’s true. Other pairs of men appear, but I was never lost with my two main guys. Syrus and Clay make an adorable couple. Syrus, the shy and introvert who narrates books and Clay, the bookstore owner and writer who brings words to life. As an author, I have a special relationship with my narrators. Nothing like this, of course, but they are people I consider important in my life.
When Syrus reaches out to Clay to ask if he can narrate one of Clay’s gay romance books, the relationship develops quickly. In a way, Syrus already knows Clay – through his words – and he lets down his guard perhaps faster than he might have otherwise. Although the story is short, it packs a lot of punch. And I loved how Clay respected Syrus’s limits and abilities, never pushing. Never testing boundaries.
Finally, of course, I can’t rave about the book without mentioning the narrators Aaron Shedlock and Kirt Graves. I’ve heard quite a few of Kirt’s books in the past and so was thrilled to have him on the project. Aaron was perfect as the down-to-earth out in the world Clay. Kirt was amazing as the introvert and shy Syrus who obviously was far more comfortable in the booth than with people. This is just a lovely novella and I’m so glad I listened.

Sweet Meet-Cute
This was the first book I read in the For Him series, and I thought it stood very well on its own even though it's technically considered #3.5 in the series. I did not feel lost or out-of-the-loop in the story, which was nice. For an introduction to the series, To Whom It May Concern was a wonderful start. The story was sweet and engaging, and I absolutely adore Syrus and Clay. They were so cute together. This book made me want to dive into the rest of the series.
The audiobook had a duet narration with Kirt Graves and Aaron Shedlock. Both narrators worked so well together and I loved their portrayal of all the characters. This audiobook was well produced and I enjoyed my listening experience.

This book, this book was breathtaking and beautiful and so very enjoyable. I loved the characters so much especially Syrus he was beyond words. i loved his quirks and i loved that in the audio they came through so well. This is just one of those stories that sticks with you. I wish it was longer but it was one that for me would. Have never been long enough

I want to spend more time with these two!
The only thing wrong with this book was that it was too short! And not in the "it wasn't a complete story" way but in the "I want to spend more time with these two" way! They were just so sweet and lovely and I wanted to get to know them more. That little "the end..for now" at the end just has me hoping that we Johnson will revisit these two and give us more sweet, tender, and sexy moments like we got in this one. I was already a fan of this series, but if you're thinking about giving it a try and don't want to commit to a longer book, this is such a good place to get a feel for the overall series. Wonderful characters, good steamy scenes, and just a lot of love. And I highly HIGHLY recommend the audio. Kirt Graves and Aaron Shedlock just absolutely nailed it in a way I'm not sure other narrators could have done. They absolutely brought the story to life and made this short story one I know I'll return to.

Should have stuck to one narrator in this case
I enjoyed this. It was very sweet. I really like the characters. It's nice to see 2 nerdier types bond for a change in what I normally read. I do think there were hints of Autism rep but it wasn't flat out said so I'm not sure if the author was going for that or not. Even though I really like this I got to give it 3 stars cause it wasn't even a complete novella. This reads more like a preview. It's for a book in a new series to come later, that I would have expected to see in an authors newsletter and not in a published piece, especially not audio.
The last chapter is a preview of book 4 and it seems really interesting.
The narrator reading Clay talked way too fast and I had to drastically slow down the pace to 1.0x. He did have a pleasant voice and he expressed the emotions well enough. He differentiated the voices enough to easily follow. Overall I enjoyed his parts. The narrator reading Syrus read much more slower so I increased the speed again. I wasn't overly found of this narrators voice. He didn't really express any emotion or differentiate the voices and he read in a tone that made me want to zone out.
