About this listen
Following on from Tom Swan and the Head of St George, Tom Swan and the Siege of Belgrade is the next instalment of the fast-paced series set in the turbulent Europe of the fifteenth century. This collection contains the full story - parts one through seven.
Fifteenth Century Europe. Tom Swan is not a professional soldier. He's really a merchant and a scholar looking for remnants of Ancient Greece and Rome - temples, graves, pottery, fabulous animals, unicorn horns. But he also has a real talent for ending up in the midst of violence when he didn't mean to. Having used his wits to escape execution, he begins a series of adventures that take him to street duels in Italy, meetings with remarkable men - from Leonardo Da Vinci to Vlad Dracula - and from the intrigues of the War of the Roses to the fall of Constantinople.

simply Fabulous
This by far my new favourite series. Great story, good characters and interesting history. Peter Nobel brilliant narrator as always. the best historical fiction i have listened to in ages. A bit blood thirsty at times but the world was like that. parts of it still are sadly.
Can’t wait for the next instalment.

The high quality continues.
Everything I loved continues in this book. Immersive historical setting, characters and garb, coupled with exciting and dramatic action, relationships and discourse. Very, very well written and narrated. Highly recommended!

superb
Christian Cameron is by far the greatest historical fiction writer. the research, the daily life description of rich and espessially poor takes the listener inside the story as if there. the evil of both sides of war is evident, and the battles terrible in ferocity and gore. a superb story which is educational.
now with over 800 titles in my audible library , Peter noble is one of 3 narrators I would buy a book solely because of his name and not the book or author, a marvellous orator I imagine in ancient Greece or Rome.

Authentic, exciting and detailed
Great second Tom Swan book. Obviously written by a man with expert knowledge of the high Renaissance and the Ottoman invasions.
Verve and nerve!

Took me a while to get into
Neither book in this series so far has grabbed me from page 1 but they have built up to thoroughly satisfying ends.
