About this listen
Discover how to break your vicious cycles, and begin creating a life you can be proud of.
Told with a gripping narrative and artful prose, Vicious Cycle offers a thought-provoking examination of our patterns of behaviour - and how these recurring habits can shape our entire lives. Blending the professional experiences of author and executive coach Jim Rees with his passion for ultra-cycling, this book seeks to unravel the nature of our psychology through relatable stories of hardship, determination, and a relentless drive to succeed and grow. Specially crafted to bridge the gap between actionable advice and real-life examples of cyclical behaviour in action, this book recounts Jim Rees’ personal struggles with his career, his relationships and his family as he pushes himself to complete the Race Across America, giving you an illuminating first-hand glimpse into his state of mind throughout the gruelling competition and the impact it had on every area of his life.
As a powerful blend of memoir and practical handbook, Vicious Cycle draws on Jim’s 20 years of experience as a coach, showing listeners how he reconciled with his own advice, worked to overcome his personal demons, and put his teachings into practice.
Perfect for anyone who wants to transform their lives and begin unlocking their true potential, Vicious Cycle uses Jim’s story to provide you with the fundamental ideas needed to redesign your mindset, change your behaviour, and create a life you can be proud of.

What a book
This book is so inspiring. It is a serious subject area, but Jim illustrates it such an interesting fashion, with odd line that make me smile.
I would recommend this to anyone seeking to improve their mental state.

Inspirational and not just for those interested in cycling. Totally gripping if you’re looking to change your approach to life!
This book is more than just an account of one man’s journey across America. It’s a very powerful and honest account of his journey to becoming the man he is today and the challenges and outcomes along the way. It has the power to inspire you to assess your current position in life and helps you to realise the parts you want to change. It has been a real eye opener for me and has helped me to face the negative patterns I have been repeating for far too long now. Thought provoking on both a personal and professional level.

Fascinating and insightful….a great story
This is an unusual blend of descriptions of the often dark places attempting somethings like The Race Across America takes you as well as insights along his journey through life and his world of coaching ….Jim is very candid about his experiences both good and bad…the picture he paints of the suffering both physically and mentally of an ultra athlete really take you there but also the parallels in life are so many and how he weaves these together is totally immersive….wonderful!
