Along the way, he nearly died in a collision with a lorry and his fundraising for the Omagh Bomb victims led to a nomination for the New Year's Honours List. The story also traces the emotional conflict, return to education, and reconciliation between the author and his fellow-orphan sibling, Paul.

Summary
Conor Devine's life changed forever following a consultation with his neurologist in 2007. At 28 years old, he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, advised to stop playing his beloved football, and told to give up his job. Over the next four years, he struggled with every aspect of his life as his debilitating MS symptoms started to take hold.
In 2010, Devine made a decision to fight back against his illness in an attempt to take his life, body, and mind back. He did this through embracing a vigorous exercise campaign along with completely changing his diet and approach to food.
During a goal-setting session at Christmas 2014, the author came up with an Against All Odds challenge, comprising a training program that would see him complete two marathons, two triathlons, a half Ironman and a full Ironman triathlon in 20 weeks. An Ironman is a 2.4-mile swim, an 112-mile bike, and a full marathon, and is internationally recognized as one of the most severe endurance races on the planet. In this audiobook, Conor sets out the training program he adopted, the important role his change in nutrition played, and ultimately, the key ingredients you need to develop an iron mindset. A mindset that allowed him to achieve Ironman status, despite the adversity he faces every single day.
Wherever you are in your own life right now, there is no doubt that this truly inspirational account will encourage, inspire, and motivate you to go on and achieve your goals in life. This is a very personal account of how one man overcame significant adversity to become an Ironman against all odds.

Inspiring
For anyone contemplating a triathlon or endurance sport of any kind this book will give you the kick to go do it instead of thinking about it. Conor’s story proves anything is possible when we set our minds to it & a reminder that we have choice when faced with adversity, lay down and accept the fate that is being offered to us or challenge it & use it as a springboard to achieve more and do more with our lives. It takes huge courage & determination to achieve what he has achieved. Worth the read.

I ran 50% more than ever while reading.
Inspirational is the easy term to use with this book but its actually more than that as it provides so much information on how to train along with nutritional and supplement advice for any discipline, not just Iron Man. I listened while training for my first marathon and managed to run 50% more than I ever had. The fact the author achieved all he did while recovering from MS is nothing short of miraculous in my opinion. Very much recommended.
