About this listen
The first in a darkly enchanting fairytale-tinged fantasy duology about a morally grey witch, a cursed prince and a prophecy that ignites their fate-twisted destinies, perfect for fans of The Cruel Prince and Serpent & Dove.
There's always a price for defying destiny.
Violet is a prophet and a liar, influencing the court as Seer with her cleverly phrased—and not always true—divinations. Honesty is for suckers, like the oh-so-not-charming Prince Cyrus, who plans to strip her of her title once he's crowned.
After the king asks her to falsely prophesy Cyrus's love story for an upcoming ball, Violet awakens a dreaded curse about the prince's future bride. Her wits may protect her in the cutthroat court, but they can't protect her against fate—nor the doomed attraction growing between her and the prince....

Very captivating story
What a great debut! This was a dark fairytale fantasy story. Running along the lines that have been tried and tested before with Princes, Fairy's, curses and Witches but with a good twist in the tale to separate it from other fairytale books. I really liked Violets character. She's a seer that came to the Palace from following a vision of the Prince which starts the ball rolling in the prophecy. I really liked how the story panned out and I was not prepared for what happened near the end. I have to say I wasn't too convinced with the romance side of the story. I didn't quite believe it but hoping it will develop more in the next book. I'm excited to read book 2 I need to know what's going to happen next. A really good debut and definitely worth a read

A Easy and Fun Listen
This story was one easy to listen to. I was searching for a book I could binge read after my reading slump and this was perfect. It not to packed with detail but it's enough to keep me engaged throughout. The politics in the book also adds to the plot without being too in depth - This is not Game of Thrones or the Poppy War after all. Overall, I think this book is great for those who like more medieval fantasy stories and especially those who love the enemies to lovers plot line.

Yeah, pretty good. Love the narrator
Decent enemies to lover's trope book. Draws inspiration from well known fairy tales. I really quite enjoyed it. Listened to it in a day. Love this narrator. If you are looking for spice, it's about a 2 out of 5.
