They say that the Thorn of Camorr can beat anyone in a fight. They say he steals from the rich and gives to the poor. They say he's part man, part myth, and mostly street-corner rumor. And they are wrong on every count. Only averagely tall, slender, and god-awful with a sword, Locke Lamora is the fabled Thorn, and the greatest weapons at his disposal are his wit and cunning. Summary
After bursting onto the fantasy scene with his acclaimed debut novel, Elantris, and following up with his blockbuster Mistborn trilogy, Brandon Sanderson proves again that he is today’s leading master of what Tolkien called “secondary creation”, the invention of whole worlds, complete with magics and myths all their own.
Warbreaker is the story of two sisters, who happen to be princesses, the god king one of them has to marry, the lesser god who doesn’t like his job, and the immortal who’s still trying to undo the mistakes he made hundreds of years ago.
Their world is one in which those who die in glory return as gods to live confined to a pantheon in Hallandren’s capital city and where a power known as BioChromatic magic is based on an essence known as breath that can only be collected one unit at a time from individual people.
By using breath and drawing upon the color in everyday objects, all manner of miracles and mischief can be accomplished. It will take considerable quantities of each to resolve all the challenges facing Vivenna and Siri, princesses of Idris; Susebron the god king; Lightsong, reluctant god of bravery, and mysterious Vasher, the Warbreaker.

Terrible audioscape
Love the story, but the foley and the music, the "movie in your mind" is poor, repetitive, not appropriate to the story and far, Far, FAR too loud, drowning the voices more often than enhancing the experience.
The main female performer can't make up her mind on her accent, becoming a strange cross between Scottish, Jamaican and Egyptian.
The main male is intent on a dark, doom-laden voice that again, isn't appropriate to the story but at least doesn't change to other accents

wonderful performance.
I am a fan of the original Warbreaker book, the original narrator painted the world with his performance, so i was rather hesitant to try this dramatised version. The voice actors did a wonderful job, they stayed true to the characters, the extra sound effects and music was seamlessly placed that it did not disturb the performance. truly enjoyable and worth the price. i recommend you give it a try.

Pleasantly surprised
I had a free credit and love Brandon Sanderson books, but have always struggled with the heavy American accents on the audio books. Read that this was a dramatised version and I’d already read the book, so thought ‘why not!’. Very well read and the different voice actors really brought the book more to life. Would definitely listen to more like this as you can’t get every book read by Stephen Fry!!

Overproduced and Amateur at the same time...
I've listened to a great deal of audio books and grew up on dramatized audio when younger, so I was really excited to see one of Brandon Sanderson's novels adapted for dramatization. Even tho I already own the book and knew the story, I jumped to purchase it.
I was met with a poorly executed mess.
The drama decided to play loud background music throughout most of dialogue and narration at the cost of clarity on what the voice actors were saying. In addition, the voice recordings sounded like they were done in a bathroom attempting to amplify acoustics. Audio levels and quality were varying which just dripped of home grown non-studio captured recordings.
I'm pretty sure this was also the reason why music was overlaid on top of so much of voice lines in an attempt to cover up its low quality.
Sound FX that were dropped in were badly paced and actually hurt the pacing of the moment rather than adding more depth to the production.
In short, this was not worth the purchase and does the literary artist injustice as it hurt more than helped convey a compelling story.

Great book, bad adaptation
I liked the story and characters, and I think the voice actors mostly did a good job.
However, the music and sound effects completely ruins it. Almost every single moment is set to music. Loud music, so it’s hard to hear the dialogue. The sound effects are completely overdone, and also loud.
In my opinion, the sound effects are bad, and the music tastelessly chosen. It’s still way worse that they’re always too loud and almost never stops.
I also had purchased the dramatized version of Elantris, and suffered through that one too. I now k know to avoid these “it’s like a movie in your mind”-productions at all costs in the future.

background noise awful
I like all of Brandon Sanderson and the story is very good, and the full cast is very good.
But.
But the constant noise in the background is not only distracting and annoying, it makes it impossible to listen to this book. there are times where you cannot understand what the narrators are saying.
I haven't yet decided if I will give up on the book in the middle and just move to a printed version - it is that bad.
if possible - it is worth re-releasing this title either without the background noise or with it's volume turned way way down.
Such a shame.

Great dramatization, but loud background
The voice actors did an amazing job personifying the characters! However, more often than not the background score interfered with the clarity of conversations. It'd be amazing if the background score sound was reduced a notch to actually listen the story.

A Story Worth the Wait
This story is well worth the read. On one hand, Sanderson does a great job at making you invest in the lives of the characters you follow. I will say I listened to the audiobook so my experience may have been different, but I enjoyed each of the main characters. I think the strength of this book is the prose. The color magic system lends itself to vivid description and the author does well at putting you in the world.
The area I found the most trouble with was the ending. One of the major twist was fairly easy to spot once you connect two clear points. I will say, I wish there was just a bit more hinted at for some of the other plot points before we hit the very end of the book. There are some great revelations that come out and overall, I have a hard time being mad with the end product.
This is one of those stories that will grab you and make you feel something. There was one sequence in particular that I don’t think I’ll ever be able to shake and it was so well done.
