Summary

Jael Furyck isn’t happy. Her father is dead. Her uncle has stolen the throne.

And now, her uncle wants to marry her off to the fallen son of her arch-enemy. But Jael is a battle-hardened warrior, trained to kill since she was 10-years-old. She doesn’t plan on being anyone’s wife.

Eadmund Skalleson is drunk. His father is threatening him with a wife again. And this time he’s given him an ultimatum. Marry Jael Furyck or your brother returns from exile. But if Eadmund was ever going to choose a wife, it wouldn’t be Jael Furyck. Not her. Not ever.

Winter’s Fury is the first book in The Furyck Saga, a gripping epic-fantasy series that takes you into a richly woven world of warring kingdoms, mysterious dreamers, dark magic, and an ancient prophecy that emerges from the shadows to weave a dangerous web around them all....

encapsulating story, but jumps between sub stories

The story is great and I do find Finty Williams a fantastic narrator. The negative though is that the story jumps between parallel plotlines without distinct separation. so when listening to this book remember who is where and with who as these jumps are separated (or so it seems) by no more than a full stop.

I love Finty Williams.

I have listened to many books narrated by Finty Williams and she does a great job every time.

Excellent start to a new series

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The characters were well developed, and I really cared about what was going to happen to them. It was great to have a strong female lead.

The narrator did a good job of bringing the story to life.

I'm looking forward to listening to the next in the series!

Over written!!

Wow this moves slow at times. Too many words reserved for zero action that don’t add anything to the story or the characters.
Great story though

Enjoyed this read

I enjoyed this book and the story. It was good getting to know the characters and I had a clear vision of the world they were in. Overall 4*’s and I’ll read the next book. I found a few negatives. There was a point where it felt the story was repeating itself a bit too many times with Edmond’s disappearing and people looking for him. It got a tiny bit frustrating jumping between 2 story lines at the climax of the story when you really want one part to conclude and the narrators mouth noises was a little distracting at times, although she did a great job.

Went on a bit

Sold writing, solid characters, very well detailed but just found it took to long for anything to get going action wise. To be fair it kept my interest until the end, but didn’t really get excited about anything. Also found the way the story jumped from place to place in the next sentence left you wondering what was going on in some points.

Still waiting for it to get going

I kept waiting for the story to get going.
Too many characters with too many threads to the story for me.
I’ll skip the rest of the series

Great

Loved it! Charecters were well made and had good progression, would highly recommend if you like sword and politics writing.

Excellent read

Very engaging from start to finish.Absolutely gripping story, well written. I’m not a expert but I know a good book when I read one. This kept me well interested and the build up of the characters took me on a journey through love, hate disgust and filling me with so many emotions..
I’m sure the 2 book in this series won’t disappoint. I’m about to start book 2 now.
