Summary

The grand finale to the prize-winning adventure series that has changed the lives of millions. Breathtaking world-building on an epic scale. Pure escapism at its best.

It is early spring, a turbulent, perilous time of sudden storms, frozen river fractures and drifting ice. Fleeing from a demon intent on devouring his souls, Wolf is swept out to sea far from the forest and his pack. The ocean, too, teems with danger: sea wolves, sharks and hunters of the deep, and the demon is gaining ground. Torak and Renn must race to save their pack-brother, battling the harsh icy waves and merciless torrents. If they can't find Wolf in time, the bond between them will be severed forever....

Run wild with Wolf Brother for the last time in a Stone Age world we all want to be part of.

Listen to Wolfbane as a stand-alone adventure or as part of the well-loved series.

4.5/5

Audiobook narrated by Ian McKellen.

I have a massive book hangover. My love of this series is hardly a secret and to build up to this I reread (listened) to the entire series. Along the way I remembered my love for Torak, Wolf, Renn, Fin Kedinn and the rest of the cast of this amazing series.

- I don't know if it's really possible to miss a time or place you've never actually been in but I miss this world like an ache in my bones. Whilst the story is wonderful, the world is beautifully portrayed and some of my favourite bits are where everyday tasks these ancient people are described and talked about. The depth of detail about nature and the lives of the "taillesses" has always left me in wonder and Wolfbane is no exception.

- The character development in this book is interesting and I like that some ground that hasn't really been touched before is mentioned. There's a section where a character talks about violence between a couple and threatens to leave if their partner ever lays hands on them again. There's also a very well portrayed same sex relationship and I love that these things were included and so well.

-The story itself was good, if slightly predictable at times and was very emotional at the end. My heart aches that I won't hear about the characters again as I desperately would love to remain with them forever.

Thank you Michelle Paver for this series. As a child and teenager I loved the original books. As an adult, revisiting them felt like coming home and was incredibly comforting during difficult times. These new stories have been wonderful and thank you for letting me metaphorically join the pack again. I look forward to when my kid is old enough that I can share these amazing books with them.

Fabulous story

This is a worthy final story in the Wolf brother series - warm, exciting and completely satisfying. Ian McKellen’s reading is as perfect as ever. I’m very sad that the series has ended …

Incredible

What an incredible end to an incredible series. Ian McKellen’s narration of these books is so beautiful and captivating you feel as though you are there in the forest with Wolf, Torak and Renn. I am just about to start listening to them all over again.

Amazing story!

I loved the fact that Torak can speak to wolves, it is so interesting to learn what it is like to be a hunter gatherer in 6000bc Scandinavia! Loved the book! :)

Wept like a newborn child.

I grew up with these characters and then this final book came out on my birthday. I can only dream of someone to bring it to life on the screen and do the books justice. I feel like I am now in mourning for these characters, I might just listen to them all again…
