Summary

Marnie is stuck.

Stuck working alone in her London flat, stuck battling the long afternoons and a life that increasingly feels like it's passing her by.

Michael is coming undone.

Reeling from his wife's departure, increasingly reclusive, taking himself on long, solitary walks across the moors and fells.

When a persistent mutual friend and some very English weather conspire to bring them together, Marnie and Michael suddenly find themselves alone on the most epic of walks and on the precipice of a new friendship.

But can it survive the journey?

A new love story by beloved bestseller David Nicholls, You Are Here is a novel of first encounters, second chances, and finding the way home.

Brilliant.

I'm only sad it wasn't longer. Humorous, likeable characters. Evocative. Brilliant. Excellent narration. Recommend you get this!

Massive expectations exceeded...as always

It's a bit daunting reading a new work by your favourite author. There's that risk of disappointment, especially when you've waited a while. But there was no need to worry. You are here is one of the most beautiful love stories I have ever read and had me giggling out loud in public as always.

Got this hot off the press

What an enjoyable read !! It did not disappoint. Every bit as good as One Day .. Dealing with matters of repairing broken hearts . Exactly written and narrated.Bring the characters to life in personality and appearance. I listen to it in one day as I just couldn’t wait to know how it would end .. .

Description of landscape. Portrayal of relationships.

I loved the development of the friendship from first sight and how journey straddled the physical and the metaphysical. I loved the interwoven allusion to the romantic poets and the impact it had on the characters.

LOVE LOVE LOVED IT

Brilliantly narrated, I loved the humour, listened to it imagining as a film, fell in love both the characters, I listened in one sitting and it left me wanting more. I highly recommend!

You are here

Witty and uplifting. I really enjoyed this. A subtle and lovely but, very much, realistic love story.

A lovely tale well told

I always enjoy David Nicholls books and this was no exception. It was a lovely story well told by narrators. Characters were fully formed and the author described them in depth and with great empathy. Not at all slushy although it is a story of a relationship starting. An interesting setting for this too. Highly recommended.

laughed out loud

Lifted my spirits and extinguished my loneliness. A few chapters in I found myself revelling in the solitude of a walk along the Pennine Way. lt turns out I wasn't alone at all, I was striding out with two relatable and entertaining companions.

Another belter!

I like everything about this book. It’s funny, sentimental, realistic and clever. The perfect antidote for the post-covid reader who’s ready to be optimistic again. David Nichols is a bona fide national treasure.
