Summary

'Sara! Remember! Victoria and Albert. All I can say. They're here. They're - '

These are the last words Sara Prior will ever hear from her husband.

As DS Nathan Cody struggles to make sense of the enigmatic message and solve the brutal murder, it soon becomes clear that Sara is no ordinary bereaved wife. Taking the investigation into her own hands, Sara is drawn into a world of violence that will lead her in a direction she would never have suspected.

For Cody, meanwhile, things are about to get personal in the darkest and most twisted ways imaginable.

A Real Rip-Snorter of a Book!

There are lots of books out there claiming to be 'psychological' thrillers but few make me feel as if I've just genuinely experienced something that has toyed with my mind! Step forward David Jackson who invites me every so often into the tortured and exhausted mind of DS Nathan Cody. It's never been an easy place to be following the events that saw him brutalised by men in evil clowns outfits.

As we start this one Cody is already in bad shape after the child abduction case of the previous book and what it took out of him. His boss fears that the terrifying murder that kicks this one off will be too much for her star detective who is showing distinct signs of trauma. It goes very much downhill for Cody after that and what he lives through in the subsequent chapters is a nightmare that pushes him to the brink.

Jonathan Keeble is the man charged with breathing life into this series and to my mind does a fine job. In truth, I doubt his accents will convince the locals so to speak but I enjoy his gruff and stressed Cody and believe he is great for the action and tension that pervades these books.

This is one of several good detective series available now and is well worth going for if you like something with a bit of an edge to it because Jackson is one sharp cookie!

Not my favourite Cody book

This story kept my interest and the narration was first class. However the plot descended into farcical connections and some of the decisions Cody made in the end are frankly unbelievable. Not sure I will read the inevitable sequel as I think this tale has stretched too far.

Your deepest fear

The narrator is excellent but I was a bit disappointed with this book. I felt it was a repeat from the last episode. I enjoyed the past Jackson books but this left me rather let down.

Best so far

Really good story. Not over complicated. Well defined characters. Maybe a bit predictable in places. But a great story. And possibly Keebles best performance to date. Hope it won't be to long for the next one..

A bit let down

I have really loved these books the stories the narration first class I did enjoy this one but felt there was something missing I can't put my finger on it. The plot was fantastic so twisted and cleverly written and Jonathan s narration was fantastic (apart from Megan) don't regret purchasing it it just as I said I felt something missing

Brilliant

This is my 10th Audible book and I’ve stuck to autobiography’s so far, so I thought I’d try something different. Boy am I glad I did, I finished the book in 2 days and was gripped from beginning to the very last word. I didn’t realise this was the last in a series so I really hope I haven’t spoilt it for myself. I’ve already downloaded the first three in the series and I hope they live up to this sensational book.

Super read.

I’m really liking Nathan Cody. Can’t wait for the next book. Would love him to admit how he feels about Megan and would love him to catch Waldo!!!

So disappointing

I have loved the Nathan Cody series to date, set this one aside for a particular time to listen. The narrator is as brilliant as ever, no complaints there at all, but to story line is just plain boring after a while. All about the clowns, Waldo and very little else. Meghan Webbley only makes an infrequent guest appearance & I hoped that relationship could have moved forward just a bit. . I do not want any more inner thoughts & fears from Cody - too repetitive by half.

So disappointed

I have read and enjoyed all the books in this series until I got to this one. So disappointing. Too much Waldo. Not enough of everything else.
I even had to fast forward a few times when the story got tedious. Don't think I will bother if any more books are released. Such a shame.
