Izzy is cursed. Her highly developed empathic abilities allow her to read people's emotions with terrifying accuracy—and consequences. As a child, she sparked her parents' divorce by revealing her father's infidelity. As an adult, she has cut herself off from everyone.

But now young girls are going missing, and the police have no suspects. And when Izzy sees her old school caretaker interviewed, she knows his story about when he last saw the latest victim isn't true. So what is Kenneth Plumley hiding? Bit too unlikely for me

Understand books need a bit of creative licence, but this story stretched things a bit too far for me. I found it frustrating overall…would an intelligent woman really follow a potential serial killer through the dark woods on her own, would a lone policeman really do that too..I doubt it…would the police really be so passive while people disappear at such an alarming rate…I couldn’t get on the same wavelength to enjoy this book. Good characters though, liked Izzy and Josh.

Pretty good!

I enjoyed this, was worth a listen, narrated well and the story was somewhat unique. I’ve only reduced the stars because I have read so many thrillers now that the bar is high to get a 5 star. Would definitely be mind blowing for people newer to the genre.

Took me ages to get into it

I must have listened to the first 2/3 chapters around 5 times before I could actually get into this book, and I’m so glad I did. I really enjoyed this story. Enjoyed the narrator. Overall I think it was really well done. I was trying to guess the twists and turns but couldn’t do it. So pleased I persevered with this book as I was close to just returning it. Well worth a credit in my opinion.

A frustrating story made worse by poor narration

I have read/listened to a lot of David Jackson's books, but this was a great disappointment due to a ridiculous storyline concerning a detective and his ineptitude .

The narration was pretty poor too, with flat monotones. As per with DJ, the ending of the story was quickly tied up. The thing that frustrates me greatly about DJs stories is that there is no joy/relief. They are thrilling and funny but fail to give any sense of relief or joy at the end.

I am miffed I wasted my book credit on it.
