About this listen

Are you fed up with poor-quality, pesticide-laced, and overpriced fruits and vegetables at your supermarket? It’s time to start growing your own sustainable food garden!

The catastrophes of climate change are upon us. We see floods, droughts, and wildfires on the news regularly.

But have you ever stopped to think about the impact of these events on our food supply?

Due to climate change, the number of bees and butterflies in Europe is declining rapidly. The US alone has lost 45.5 percent of its honeybee colonies from April 2020 to April 2021, according to a survey conducted by the nonprofit Bee Informed Partnership (BIP).

Here’s why these numbers are so alarming: 75 percent of global crops rely on animal pollination.

The UN World Food Program reports 957 million people don’t have enough food. Unfortunately, without pollinators, this is only going to get worse.

To compensate for the lack of pollinators, companies are using more and more chemicals to grow food, a practice that can result in serious health consequences.

What if there was a way to grow nutritious fruits and vegetables right from your own backyard garden, attract native pollinators, and encourage them to thrive, resulting in more food in your kitchen?

And what if we told you that it was far easier than you thought? Think of it as your own organic edible plants in your backyard garden landscape.

Illuminating, captivating and insightful.

Is this audiobook worth a listen? Most definitely!!!
In fact, it’s ideal for anyone who is interested in the natural environment, healthy, nutritious home-grown food, gardening or…. if you’re like me…. all three.
Karen Shepley’s engaging writing style and sound knowledge is brought perfectly to life by Dr Michelle Carabache’s narration and, without feeling the least bit preached at, I learned such a plethora of practical tips and garnered so much beneficial information that I couldn’t wait to dodge the english rain, get out in the garden and start getting my hands dirty.
Karen Shepley is a ‘human honeybee’ for spreading the word about this absorbing and vital subject whilst communicating everything in such an easy and straightforward manner - perfect for a beginner like me.
If you’re interested in planting a natural, pesticide-free, flourishing garden whilst doing your bit to help prevent the dramatic and disastrous decline of our natural pollinators (but are maybe not quite sure how to get started) then I highly recommend you listen to this fabulous audiobook. You won’t be disappointed! 🐝🦋😀

Growing My Own Food!

Being self-sufficient is something that has died out and is beginning to poke its head back up!
I'm happy to say I'm on the train.
It feels so good to have the knowledge I need to grow my own garden and use nature's pollinators for amazing results.
The best part is this can be done in any space you have available, I've even had success with container gardening. Don't let the` fact that you don't have a lot of land stop you from being self-sufficient. Adapt and overcome!

Amazing book about sustainable and green living!

I got this book because I have never been into gardening and I wanted to better understand some of the do's and don'ts. However, what I got from this book was so much more! I gained an understanding of how the pollination cycles work and why they are so important to our world, along with being shocked by the amounts of chemicals currently being used to produce our food. I will definitely be following some of the great tips and tricks in this book and trying to grow my own fruits and vegetables on the road to going green! Thanks for all of the great info!

Exactly what I was looking for!

The self sufficiency message of this audiobook particularly resonated with me. I mean who doesn’t want to provide their family with healthy, nourishing, great-tasting food whilst cutting down on rising supermarket charges?
The information provided makes it so easy to get started and the importance of attracting the different pollinators to our gardens is a fascinating and vitally important subject.
A truly engaging narrative - so many useful tips and fascinating facts such as how the daisy got its name and how bees communicate. The author and narrator both did great jobs!
I also LOVED the free bonus companion planting guide - beautifully illustrated and so helpful.
