  • Mahabharat and Valmiki Ramayan are the two fundamental foundation epics of Hinduism. Ramayan describes the life of Ram, while Mahabharat is not focused on the life of any one person. Dwaipaayan Krishn, who is also called Maharshi Ved Vyas, and Vaasudev Krishn (also called Muralidhar, Giridhar, Gopal, Govind, Madhav etc.) are the soul of Mahabharat and hold all the strings of the story. On surface, it appears that Mahabharat is the story of the family feud within Kuru royal family between sons of Pandu (Pandav) and sons of Dhrutraashtr (Kaurav). But Mahabharat is certainly much bigger than a family feud. This epic is a vast storehouse of knowledge that teaches one about every aspect of life. The struggle in the epic is the clash between two different life-values. Dwaipaayan Krishn and Vaasudev Krishn put in relentless and continuous efforts to establish and strengthen the same fundamental values and ideals for which Ram fought the war against Raavan. Mahabharat is the story of their efforts. By learning and understanding this story and by adopting the learnings into our behaviour we can make our life happy and rich. This series “Mahabharat Ka Mahaparv” is most humbly submitted with the best of regards and wishes to those who value knowledge.


    Valmikiy Ramayan is the original epic which narrates the story of Ram. It is a detailed work which describes Ram as a human being who faced all the difficulties of life. Ram of Valmikiy Ramayan faces dilemmas, discusses with his family and friends, accepts guidance from learned men and suffers hardships. He always takes the right decisions and follows the path of dharm. The series Valmiki Ramayan Ke Ram of conversations between Yogita Pant (Questioner) and Anil Chawla is intended to help the viewers understand the personality of Ram. After understanding one can adopt Ram's ideals in one's own life and enrich one's life.

Vidur had gone with gifts for all. He met King Drupad and requested the king to send Paandavs along with wife to Hastinapur. After getting the approval of King Drupad, Paandavs along with Krishna as well as Krishn and Balram moved to Hastinapur. Paandavs received a warm welcome in Hastinapur. After they were settled and had some rest, Dhrutraashtr called Yuddhishthir and his brothers. Dhrutraashtr told Yuddhishtir to take half the kingdom and leave for Khaandavprasth. Yuddhishthir was crowned as king and departed from Hastinapur the same day. (Mahabharat/Aadiparv/Viduraagman-Raajyalambh Parv/Chapters 205 and 206). Gangaaputr Bheeshm declared that he did not want any animosity with Paandavs. He advised that half of the kingdom be given to the Paandavs. Guru Dron agreed with Bheeshm’s advice and further advised that the Paandavs should be brought to Hastinapur with due respect. Karn, who wanted Kauravs to attack Paandavs, tried to criticize Bheeshm and Guru Dron. Karn received no support and was put in place by Guru Dron who scolded him. Vidur also supported Bheeshm and Dron. Vidur pressed on Dhrutraashtr to accept the advice received. Pressed like this, Dhrutraashtr accepted the advice of Bheeshm and Dron. He deputed Vidur to go to Paanchaal and get the Paandavs back with full courtesies and respect. (Mahabharat/Aadiparv/Viduraagman-Raajyalambh Parv/Chapters 202, 203, 204 and 205). Duryodhan also asked his friend Karn for his views. Karn disagreed with the views of Durydhan and instead suggested direct attack on the Paandvs at the earliest before they become stronger with support from friends and relatives.
