Set in a time when wolf-hunting was illegal in certain states of America, this is the story of two teenagers, brother and sister, who find four orphaned wolf pups while out walking. Its hunting season and the pups' chances of survival without a surrogate pack are slim. Belle tells the story from her point of view, as she and Trevor decide to risk their own safety and walk them across the border, over the mountain range that divides the states. An unexpected turn of events ultimately seals the fate of their quest.
