Chase Campbell is the Minister of Power Production and Distribution and a member of the Protectors. When he learns a terrible secret about the government that he has served most of his adult life, I realizes he can no longer support the Protectors. He decides to try to escape to Mars and begin again. Success means survival. Failure means almost certain death for himself and all those who help him.

Bryce Taylor and Eryn Garrett are part of the Special Investigations Unit based in Dark Valley City, Mariner Valley sector, Mars. They are dispatched to Nippon City in the Kasei Valles to investigate a series of suspicious deaths. At first, the cause of death can't be determined. Later, the medical examiner learns that the deaths have been caused by something that is not supposed to be on Mars. It was banned during the early colonization period. Bryce and Eryn team up with two detectives on the Nippon City Police Department to find out who is responsible and bring them to justice.
