The Spiritual Plane and all of its kingdoms have been devastated by the release of the mighty cherubim. The Descendant Refugees, led by Brody West, have been ejected from England, leaving all of their wealth and property behind in the hands of Prime Minister Gladstone. Destined for lands in Ireland, they find, instead, a hostile Shade King and his Leprechaun army waiting for them.

Lucifer's plan to have his son rule has not been deterred by the conflicts raging among the Descendants and humans. In fact, they have only brought him closer to that goal. As Brody and Oliver and their allies remain a step behind Grayson Stone and the Descendants serving him, new plans emerge that preclude much more than his desire for British power. Stone intends to control all nations, using the United States as his new power base. However, in order to accomplish his goals, Grayson will have to go beyond what he's ever done before and join with Lucifer to become one.

Revenge is a dish best served cold, and the angel, Black, has waited nearly ten years to serve up his own brand of vengeance upon Brody West and the Descendants who helped to consign his spirit to Tartarus. Unfortunately, none of the Descendants were aware that Southresh and Anubis managed to release their brother before Grayson Stone's demise at Tidus.
