About this listen

Stuck in a dead-end job, broken-hearted, broke and estranged from her best friend, Violet's life is nothing like she thought it would be. She wants more - better friends, better sex, a better job - and she wants it now.

So, when Lottie - who looks like the woman Violet wants to be when she grows up - offers Violet the chance to join her exciting start-up, she bites. Only it soon becomes clear that Lottie and her husband, Simon, are not only inviting Violet into their company, they are also inviting her into their lives.

Seduced by their townhouse, their expensive candles and their Friday-night sex parties, Violet cannot tear herself away from Lottie, Simon or their friends. But is this really the more Violet yearns for? Will it grant her the satisfaction she is so desperately seeking?

Insatiable is about women and desire - lust, longing and the need to be loved. It is a story about being unable to tell whether you are running towards your future or simply running away from your past. The result is at once tender and sad, funny and hopeful.

ropey story but well written

This was well written and had some quite funny moments but I just felt that the plot was a bit week and it was a bit like watching a well acted porno film. The juicy bits were there but I just got irritated with the characters and the ending was predictable

Sexy!

This book is good, the storyline wasn’t mind blowing, but it is a steamy mid 20’s crisis/coming of age book! I was recommended the book for its erotic side and I wasn’t disappointed!

Hilarious, brilliant, frustrating...

I love this book. I think the lead character is a potent mix of Fleabag and Bridget Jones. I love the story, and I adored how it unfolded in surprising and original ways.

I honestly think that had certain things been left out and the ending not been so pat and neatly tied up, this book could’ve been up there with some of the best novels written in the past two decades.

Unfortunately it veers slightly too close to cliche with all of the middle-class baiting and – what I felt was – subliminal adoration of that lifestyle. It felt like it was trying to pop the bubble, whilst also holding it up and telling us how shiny and beautiful it is.

The ending is the biggest let down however, I wanted the lead character to sail off into the sunset as a miserable failure – much like life. But this is fiction and she ends up getting it all. Which is kind of nice but slightly insulting to the reader.

Self Discovery.

Not my usual book. A journey of self discovery for a young woman who feels that she has to please and apologise to everyone but herself.

engaging and empowering, if not what I expected

I’m a huge fan of Daisy Buchanan’s work and was really excited to read her first novel.

Insatiable delivered all of Daisy’s humour and thoughtfulness, and I appreciated the way the novel, like a lot of her work, the subject of loneliness many women face in their late twenties - that feeling of being completely lost when the pressure to have it together feels like it’s never been higher.

like some of the other reviewers, I felt like the novel was heavy on sex and just a little bit light narrative - while I’m perfectly happy for some dirty scenes, it felt like a few of them came at the expense of connecting plot dots, so that was a bit of a shame.

still, I’d definitely recommend this novel to fans of Daisy’s work! Charly Clive’s narration was excellent too :)

Interesting story but doesn't seem very realistic

I was hoping for something else to be honest. but this is still worth to listen the whole thing! especially if you like the steamy scenes ;)

one for the millennials

the writing was pretty good, not one for the youth though, can get very saucy in places. felt like it ended a little abruptly! Read fairly well, but the narrator's liverpudlian accent is a little off-putting! Lottie and Simon are horrid characters, the complexity of their reasoning is not explored fully.

Beautifully written fifth

This is definitely not one for the kids it's the sort of book you have to give yourself over to but if you do you won't regret it because its a rollicking ride to be approached with the knowledge that it is very adult.

Refreshing bicurious Bridget Jones sexcapades

Enjoyable, frothy sexy book but I found the reader so clipped and her annoying tone wasn't great (also: don't do an accent unless you can nail it. The only one she nailed was a posh RP, which is fine, but then after a while it becomes frightfully monotone and just another posh girl story. The scouse was bad and detracted away from the character of Nadia who could have made more of an impact had it have been approached differently). I really enjoyed the direction the book explores, and the different ways modern couples (or throuples) operate, but found the narrator so annoying and technically quite poor.

Didn’t enjoy at all.

This book was just not my cup of tea, I found myself really struggling to get to the end of the book. I really didn’t enjoy it at all. I found the narration incredibly boring and dull.
