Great locations!

This story is like a big soft fluffy scarf that wraps itself around you and makes you feel better. I particularly enjoyed it as I live in Bath and could recognise all her locations. Highly recommended if you like just a good story that isn’t going to tax the mind too much. Perfect for a long motorway drive....

Cosy

A pleasant, cosy, undemanding and comfortably domestic book. I liked the juxtaposition of the two stories. A relaxing bedtime listen.

Always a listening pleasure

Just enough sugar, sadness and superb characters to sweep you along and root for each character. I enjoy the historical aspect of the stories as well. And Julia Barrie’s voice is well suited to this style of story. I always laugh and cry whilst tending my garden. A perfect friend to keep my company.

All’s there in love and war

I don’t know what it is really, about Veronica’s books , as they’re not my particular genre , but once picked up/ turned on I just can’t put them down. She’s a terrific story teller and although this story isn’t full of intrigue and action it’s a quiet refined story of “ a family”.
Very highly recommended

A lot of stories within a story, but great stories!

This book wasn’t quite what I had expected - it didn’t focus on the ‘main’ character and her development as much as I thought it would. It covers two time periods and tells these from a number of different perspectives, so I found myself a bit frustrated at times waiting to get back to the ‘main’ story.

However, the different story trails throughout were interesting, and the narrator’s performances were brilliant.

Recommended as an easy, feel good listen.

Lovely Story

I found the whole book to be delightful. The thread about Bath during WW2 was very interesting - and upsetting as I did not know the city had been bombed so heavily with such a loss of life. The other themes about love and friendhip, personal growth and forgiveness were beautifully done with a gentle touch. Veronica Henry at her best.

really enjoyable listen.

I enjoyed getting to know the characters and bouncing back and forth between past and present.

Different storyline

Brilliant storytelling I really liked the two time lines of past and present, believable characters and a great story it just carried you along ideal for listening whilst doing something I was sad when it ended would thoroughly recommend.
