Summary
Edward Enninful has lived an extraordinary life.
Here, for the first time, he shares the remarkable, inspiring story of his journey from a childhood bedroom in Ghana overlooking firing squads, to 1990s London - becoming the youngest-ever fashion director of i-D magazine at just eighteen years old. Now the first Black editor-in-chief of British Vogue, he has created game-changing images of everyone from Beyoncé to Meghan Markle, Kate Moss to Oprah Winfrey, Adele to Rihanna, and many more stars he now counts as friends.
A Visible Man is the story of a husband, son, brother, friend - and icon. Taking us from the neon thrills of Soho clubs to nights spent on friends' sofas, this is the story of Edward's phenomenal grit and determination: of failures, loss, coming out, joy, hedonism, fame, love, heartbreak, sacrifice, ill health and era-defining achievements. It's the story of one man's revolutionary mission to change how we see the world, showing how unwavering passion and perseverance can allow anyone to make their mark - just like he did.

Being Black, Gay & at the Top Fashion Table
Edward gives a very personal take on how his family upbringing shaped him to become a style maverick. He's worked hard, sacrificed a lot and utilised opportunities to the best of his ability. There's a cost physically, and mentally to get to the very top which should not be underestimated. There are unbelievable highs and crushing lows. His mum must be very proud of all Edward has achieved.

Helping me gain a different perspective
Hearing from Edward about his life, work, beliefs and what is important to him, really helped me think about the world from a very different perspective.
Thank you Edward for taking the time to share; for doing all that you have and all that you continue to do in supporting others to have a voice and grow.

Remarkable Story
I savoured every word of Edward's truly remarkable story. Wow, what a trailblazer! I was awestruck at how he rose against the odds by sheer passion, hard work and dedication, defying deeply ingrained conditioning and despite devastating prejudice to make a meaningful difference. The feel-good ending would have been made even sweeter by knowing his father was sorry and very proud of him. Actions do speak but sometimes we need the comfort of actual words. Total respect to Mrs Enniful for making, moulding and inspiring such a creative force in Edward whose impact is profound. Thank you- I'm richer for hearing this encouraging tale of a life well lived xox

Full of big names!
Narration brilliant. Best bit; Edwards reaction to being racially profiled by the female secuirty guard after she barked "loading bay". Classic and brilliantly handled by Edward after a lifetime of being on the receiving end of this kind of unacceptable behaviour by white workers who are unable to accept that black people in positions of authority are visible whether they like it or not.

Need a physical copy !!! 🦋
I’m so blown away by this incredible book. As a big fan of Edward Enninful before I knew this was going to be good but what a journey !!! It’s educational and poetic but also had me giggling too. The names and places in here being described by Edward himself is heaven ☁️🦋✨ Couldn’t recommend this book more ♥️
