Eye opening and valuable resource
After listening to this, I can pinpoint a few behaviors in my mother that are covered in this book, but nothing extreme. I do however notice these traits in the mother of someone who is extremely close to me, and I can see the effects it's had on her; I'll definitely be passing this book on to her so she can start the healing process. The strategies the author gives are practical and provide a clear path to healing. If you have a narcissistic mother - or think you might - do yourself a favor and grab a copy of this book. It will be one of the best decisions you make!

So encouraging
Sometimes, people don't realize how much emotional damage they can do to other people. And in cases with narcissists, they don't care to even think about it. I do not have a narcissistic mother, but my father is an entirely different story. He feels like he is always right and that he can do no wrong, even when the evidence of his wrongdoing is directly in his face. It is so AGGRAVATING. Then he wonders why we all avoid him.
He even allowed his sister to belittle me when I was young and impressionable. It took me until I was 28 to realize what happened and why I had self-esteem issues, although my love for my father dwindled away long before then. At this point, I hold very little respect for him as a person, but I know that for my own sake, I can't continue to live with that feeling. This book would have definitely come in handy for me years ago, but I am glad it came into my life now. It helped me understand more about the person who claimed he was my father, even though he didn't act like it. And it will be helpful to anyone else who has a narcissistic person in their life.

Stop living in the past and heal
While I personally did not grow up with a narcissistic mother, the book taught me quite a bit about what behaviors I can avoid as a parent. The author made me more aware of the importance of fostering healthy relationships with my children. Understanding the trauma and emotional scars of a narcissistic mother was crucial for me as I wanted to ensure that my children never felt that way. My heart goes out to those who did grow up with a mother like this as I can only imagine what they felt as a child. The author delves into the psyche of a narcissistic parent which provides valuable insights to the now-grown adult child to help them understand that that type of behavior was never their fault.
The author gives practical steps to build a supportive network and trust which is crucial for fostering valuable future relationships and not letting their upbringing damage their adult life. The book isn't only about healing but also the author is teaching the readers how to feel empowered and to take control of their past to ensure they can make the changes they need to have the future they want.
