Summary
Contains books one and two of the Prophecies series.
Agent of Prophecy, book one
A 17-year-old princess's life of leisure has been shattered when an ancient prophecy forces her into the role of an assassin and guardian. It's that or death to her and everyone she loves.
Arabelle is the daughter of a merchant king whose life of leisure is shattered when she's attacked by a poisonous creature that hasn't walked the land in over five centuries. Unfortunately, she finds herself an unwitting agent of an ancient prophecy that promises death to her and all she loves.
To avoid such a fate, all she has to do is overcome the debilitating effects of the poison coursing through her veins, find the heirs to the prophecy, and help them overthrow a despot who's been ruling the land with an iron fist for nearly five centuries. As an agent of the prophecy, she has no other choice.
Heirs of Prophecy, book two
Seventeen-year-old Ryan Riverton and his family are exploring some ancient caves when an earthquake turns their world upside-down.
The Rivertons find themselves in a new land that they’re completely unprepared for. Tjeu are subjects of an ancient prophecy that predicted their arrival, and their arrival doesn’t go unnoticed. The tyrant that rules over this new land is looking for them.

entertaining but some cringe moments
I liked the story and want to listen to more of it. The main issue is some really cringe 1950s stereotypes in book 2. The mum breaking down emotionally because she is so proud she has now learned cooking to look after her family 🤮.

Patriarchal fantasy
In the second book they’re all two dimensional characters who just exist to embody and celebrate toxic gender stereotypes 🤮
The first book was ok, so I was surprised just how awful it suddenly got. Also, the characters face no obstacles! They are just overwhelmingly more powerful than their opponents the entire time, zero tension.

Not too bad
Not quite a David Gemmel but on the same level as M.L Stephens. I enjoyed the books and will conclude the series

I really enjoyed this audio book. I can’t wait to listen to the rest of the series. I am also going to take a look at the authors other works. Well worth a read.

Interesting sci-fantascy
Good character development and stories that provide backstory to each. initially a slow start that turns into a page turner.

Definately want book 2
I was a little unsure if I'd like this as I started it, but it didn't take long before I was drawn in.

Kept me listening …
Was getting into the folks in book one and then the plot change threw me a bit didn’t know quite how the threads would knit together with the family on the dad trip kayaking about … but go with it the story picks up from there … and I have long believed cheese is the ultimate power food !!

It's fine I guess
The first book was better than the second which suddenly became an Isekai. I feel the story would have worked better without inserting characters from our world and it certainly would have been improved without the mother character suddenly loving everything to do with a woman's role in a patriarchal society.
The story also lacked tension. The protagonists are OP but don't really have to earn their powers or face struggles in getting them. There are some good bones here, it's just the resulting story is very meh. Drop the Isekai and a couple rounds of editing and this could have been great. So if you can look past that, you'll enjoy this book. If you can't, you likely won't have a good time.
