Summary

In a world where there are no rules, there is no greater hero than a 17-year-old girl.

Life at the fortified town of Sanctuary is calm. The people, with their fearless leader at the helm, have created a haven where they can live out their lives in peace and safety.

But it hasn’t always been this way. There were battles and losses along the way, and victory usually came at a price.

With the younger generation coming into their own, it’s time for Leah to pass on all she has learned over the years. Time to tell the stories of how the world became the way it is...starting with the highwaymen of Andorra.

Before it happened!

A good read, for those who have followed the series. Readers are aware of the end of the series and are aware of the various life outcomes of our characters. So this series is a good background yarn to see how they got to their, ‘outcome’ and to revisit they’re lives and evolution post; After it Happened!
The audible performer was female which linked it well into Leah’s story. The story is very much like many of the others which propelled the characters to where they are. For me I didn’t want the original story to end, but it had to, for those characters. It would be interesting to to see what happens to the new generations after, After it happened..

Great story, wrong narrator.

Big fan of the first six audio books and with RC Bray narrating it really brought the characters to life for me, especially Leah.

Unfortunately with this book the story is there but the performance by the narrator isn’t. Not a slight against Kate, I actually really like her narrating in other titles I just think this story/character wasn’t for her.

If you’re a fan like me you’ll probably fight your way through books 7 and 8 to get to 9.

Catching up with characters from great series

I thoroughly enjoyed the previous books in this series and it's been great to get some further adventures of these characters.

Like the earlier books, this is no detective book with plot twists and guess work required, but rather a straight forward narration of the lives of the characters and the adventures they get themselves into. And that makes it really easy to get into for an Audio book, and just listen along.

RC Bray did the narration on the first 6 books (or 3 if your got the publishers packs), but as this is the "Leah Chronicles", i guess it would not make sense for this book to have a make voice. So the narration is good enough, but is not at the same level as Bray. Kate Reading (great last name for a narrator) has one slightly annoying habit of finishing sentences with an increasing pitch, but you have to learn to ignore this (if this type of thing annoys you, like it does me).

Overall a good listen. Now I want more please...

Great Book, another chapter in the continuing tail

This book is another great story, equally as good as the first few in the series. It took a little while to get used to the narrator but eventually I did.

Brilliant

Kate Reading had some big shoes to fill narrating this continuing part of the series and fill them she most certainly did, love this series Devon keeps you wanting more and Kate’s narration is brilliant can’t wait for the next part.

Good story nice idea to see what happen to Dan and Leah 7+ years later

Just for the first time for any audible book needed to listen at x1.25 to make Kate Reading sound normal as at x1 she talks slowly.

Ruined

This narrator has spoiled the story. Her inflection and emphasis is all wrong. The story is great, such a pity.

Great book except for the performance

The story is great. It gives a very nice picture of the life after sanctuary. Performance wise, not so great. I don't like Dan's voice. It sounds like an old witch rather than a man with authority. Other male voices are OK that's why I'm struggling to understand why the reader gave one of the main characters such an awful voice.
There is also a tone at the end of almost every sentence that I find quite annoying, can't really describe it in words but I'm sure there's someone else sharing my same sentiment.
I would still recommend the book just for its story.

Wow!

After having listened to the previous After it Happened Books, narrated by the Legend that is R C Bray, I had to build myself up to face a different Narrator reading this book. It took me awhile, but finally went for it. And OMG Im so glad I did!

Fast paced without you losing the plot, just made you never want to hit the pause button to listen to later! So Detailed that you just cant stop listening.... Absolutely loved it, Kate Reading does a fantastic Job at being Leah!

Its wonderful to hear the in between bits of the previous AIH books! So get yourself a drink of some sort, some snacks perhaps and press play.... and be prepared to not to hit pause for a long while 😄 Bows down to Devon C Ford for yet another great book !

Decent follow up story. Let down by narrator

The story is a great follow up from the original series however the narrator gives it the same performance you would expect from someone narrating a childs book. This book needed a female voice, however one with more grunt would’ve been better.
