Summary
The Rebellion may have heroes like Jyn Erso and Luke Skywalker. But the Empire has Inferno Squad.
After the humiliating theft of the Death Star plans and the resulting destruction of the battle station, the Empire is on the defensive. In response to this stunning defeat, the Imperial Navy has authorized the formation of an elite team of soldiers, known as Inferno Squad. Their mission: infiltrate and eliminate the remnants of Saw Gerrera's Partisans. Following the death of their leader, the Partisans have carried on his extremist legacy, determined to thwart the Empire - no matter what the cost. Now, Inferno Squad must prove their status as the best of the best and take down the Partisans from within. But as the danger intensifies and the threat of discovery grows, how far will Inferno Squad go to ensure the safety of the Empire?

Good, not great...
Not crucial reading for either the Battlefront II game or the universe in general, but it does draw a few things together from this point in the canon timeline, so it's easy to follow, and 'familiar'... certainly more so than Battlefront: Twilight Company I found. The plot is okay and builds in a simple but solid fashion... though the pacing seems uneven at times, and I found the pay off at the end a bit thin. It cements the origin of Iden's story arc fairly nicely, and offers an insight in to the Empires goings on after the events of A New Hope... an interesting counterpoint for the first book.
Gavankars reading of the story was one of the better aspects I thought, I found it less distracting than some of the mainstay narrators, a very sensible choice especially if your familiar with the game.
If you're new to SW audiobooks this one is low priority, if you're a canon junkie, there's enough here to make it worth a listen.

Great prequel story to the campaign
Loved it. Janina Gavankar obvious but perfect choice for the book. Plot was great with some insight into the characters back story.

Very additive to the Battlefront II campaign story
I enjoyed the Battlefront II campaign more than most, it seems, but even I wouldn't disagree with the criticism that the character development felt rather rushed. Christie Golden has done a really impressive job with this book of rectifying this issue, so that decisions made by characters in the game that seemed rash or illogical now feel poignant, understandable, and even tragically inevitable. I think I actually like this book more than Dark Disciple, which is widely considered to be Golden's best.
Janina Gavankar does great work on some characters, and some not-so-great work on others. Fans of Star Wars audiobooks are frankly spoiled by the absurdly versatile talents of Marc Thompson, and I do not envy anyone that has to work with his high standards looming over their head. That being said, Gavankar unfortunately misfired on a few of the characters in this book, an example of this being the odd surfer drawl she gave to a couple of the Dreamers, making them very difficult to take seriously, even in very tense situations. She did, however, absolutely nail Sen, and she also did a great job on Iden and Del.
In summary, it's a great story, and I'd actually suggest it's essential for fans of the Battlefront II campaign; however, I would say there are moments which I think would be better read from the page rather than heard from this audiobook.

A good addition
Decent story and good characters although I did feel the stakes were set pretty low. I'd still recommend this for other star wars fans.

Great antihero story
Exciting and new angle, looking at undercover soldiers of the Empire who truly believed what they were doing was right. Loved how the story begins at the end of 'A New Hope' / Episode 4.
