About this listen
Jude has never been averse to a bit of a flutter; her friend Carole, on the other hand, thinks that the local betting shop is a den of iniquity. But when Jude stumbles upon the body of a Polish immigrant, Tadeusz Jankowski, the race is on to find his killer.
The odds aren’t looking good. No one seems to know anything about the mysterious Tadeusz - even his sister can’t shed any light on what he was doing in Fethering. As they question the local residents, Carole finds an unexpected friend in an inveterate gambler, and Jude finds herself in potential trouble with a lecherous and charming drama professor.

A thoroughly enjoyable book and performance
Another excellent Fethering mystery read by the author. These books are keeping me sane during lockdown!

Another winner!
More entertainment from Feathering when Carole and Jude solve another murder in the quiet south coast town and more local characters are introduced

Darker than usual
However, despite its themes, was in keeping with the excellence of the rest of the series so far. A Simon Brett day is a good day!

Another great read
I really enjoyed this and am about to start on the next one.
Witty and amusing, and enough of a thriller to make you want to turn the page.

Entertaining story but hackneyed stereotypes are a bit embarrassing
It was good fun all told. I’m enjoying the series but this one had an unconvincing end that relied upon cringingly unlikely stereotypes. He writes a good story but when he starts writing about people whose politics he disagrees with or he disapproves of it becomes rather mean unconvincing caricature.

One of the best!
I have listened to all of the books in this series and have enjoyed them all. This one, I felt, was one of the best and had lots of twists in the plot which made it very entertaining to follow. Mr Brett not only has a very perceptive understanding of women, their feelings and their relationships but also reads it beautifully and I could not now imagine anyone else doing so. Looking forward to the next one!

Classic Brett
Another lovely, dare I say, cosy, Fethering mystery. I love the two leading characters. I find it completely addictive listening. Great story, and as always, great read by the author.

Another goodie from Simon Brett.
Simon Brett always manages to make each of the characters sound different, his narration is excellent and clearly spoken. A coherent storyline and I like the brief bits of humour.
