Summary

Twenty-two-year-old Brett Dalton awakens to find himself dumped in a cheap hotel with a strange man. During his move from Dublin to Galway, his so-called friend Sean abandons him again to fend for himself. Brett doesn't know what to do or where to go without transportation. He needs to find a job immediately.

After making a phone call to Master Cleary, the Dom he met at BSDM Camp, Brett starts hitchhiking to Cleary's Pub for a job. A torrential rainstorm completely washes out the road leading to Galway, but though London born, the luck of the Irish is with Brett, and the handsome, 30-year-old Darragh McGregor offers him a ride.

These two don't know it yet, but they desperately need each other. Brett's search for a Dom has left him abused and abandoned, and Darragh is lonely and longing for a sub. They run into some bumps along the road, including the reappearance of a dangerous acquaintance, but there is nothing they can't overcome together.

Brett's story - MM BDSM

I couldn't wait to read/listen to this book after the prequel and the horrendous way Sean had treated Brett, the passion I had to shout at Sean to escape. In this book, Sean did us all a favour and dumped Brett. But that's just the start of Brett's story. Finally, Brett has a break in his ever-so-horrendous short life.

The writing was so good that I got ever so emotional over and over again. This starts with the seedier side of BDSM with pretend Doms who don't mind endangering their subs, but we also meet Master Cleary again and a new Dom, Master Darragh.

If you've read Brina's back catalogue, you will have met Master Cleary and his boys, again a brilliant book if you haven't read it.

I can't wait to read/listen to the rest of this series.

In my opinion, the narration by James Talbot is very slow, so I have to speed up the book to 1.45 on audible, saying that though I love how he does the different voices, it's just a speed issue for my ears/brain.

Things finally go right for Brett

We met Brett and Sean in the prequel book to this one, BDSM Camp. Reading that book first will definitely help explain some events in this one and the dynamic between Brett and Sean but isn't mandatory. Brett has drawn the short straw in relationships from the time he was born and now, as young man he really just wants to find a Dom who will love him for the sweet caring man he is, collar him and take care of him. Darragh, comes out of a pouring rain like the answer to Brett's prayers and it just so happens he's a Dom who is looking for a permanent sub. What I most enjoyed about these two is that while they clearly are attracted to each other and fit together superbly, both can be quite prickly. Neither is really experienced in handling the day to day minutiae of a relationship and they have to learn how to do that together. They get wonderful support from firiends like Master Cleary, his boys and characters we've met in other Brina Brady books. For those who like some suspense, let's just say that Sean isn't out of Brett's life yet and he's as dangerous as ever. I always enjoy the job James Talbot does with Brady's books, but I particularly enjoyed his creepy/dangerous Sean here and the comfort and security in his voice when Brett is supported by Darragh, especially at the end.
