Elise was spending a lot of time crying on buses. She had just graduated from university; had a shiny new flat, her first proper job and a budding relationship - and they were making her miserable. Sitting at work one day, she hit upon the obvious solution. Run 5,000 miles around the coast of Britain, carrying her kit on her back. Six months later Elise set off, with absolutely no ultra-running experience, unable to read a map and having never pitched a tent before. Over the 301 days that followed, she developed a debilitating fear of farmyard animals, cried on a lot of beaches and saw Britain at its most wild and wonderful. With heart and humour, Elise explores the thrill of taking risks and putting your trust in total strangers, and learns some home truths along the way.

A wonderful account of a GB adventure
Thoroughly enjoyed listening to Elise’s account of running the coast of Great Britain. Definitely recommend.

Fantastic story, honestly told.
Excellent story well told, I loved the honesty, the self doubt and ultimately the achievement.
Narration by the author is perfect. My favourite listen of the year by miles!

Quite an inspiring journey
Elise Downing’s journey is an truly inspiring one. The only problem I had with the book was that she apologises a lot. And I mean a lot! If this book was written by a man it would have been much more positive and self-assured. And I am saying this as a woman myself. Downing is apologising for everything and I just think she needs to acknowledge how incredible she is and focus more on her achievements than her perceived failures. The book would have been a much more positive one then and perhaps even more inspirational. Lastly narration is not the best I’ve listened to; it sometimes gets a bit fast paced and monotone.

Very inspiring.
This book was very very interesting and inspiring. When you listen, you will want to go on some adventure of your own. I loved it from star to finish and can highly recommend it.
