Summary

From former Green Beret and USA Today best-selling author Jason Kasper

"Jason Kasper is a name to watch in the thriller world." (Mark Greaney, number one New York Times best-selling author of the Gray Man series)

When American citizens in Nigeria are kidnapped and held for ransom, David Rivers and his team of CIA contractors find themselves enveloped in an international firestorm. With a US administration determined to protect American lives, David has the authority to do whatever it takes.

But as David’s team tracks down the mysterious terror cell responsible for the kidnapping, they uncover a conspiracy beyond anything they could have imagined.

And in a race against time to recover the hostages, David and his team must infiltrate the Sambisa Forest, a sprawling Boko Haram stronghold overflowing with enemy soldiers.

Failure is not an option.

Survival is not guaranteed.

Unable to pause, not even for meals.

I've listened to them all Jason Jasper's books. A non stop thriller where doing good is rarely easy, or even legal. Despite what others think, he'll do the right thing his way, selflessly (usually), whatever it takes. Consequences be damned.

Brilliant

Having been in Gwoza and Maiduguri, I am amazed at the accuracy of geographical description and events!
The author has either been there or he is a top researcher! I enjoyed the book thoroughly. Thanks

Exciting without getting ridiculous

I've read all three in this series and the books are very well done. They focus on one mission, the action flows convincingly and the locations immerse you in a time and place.

Some thrillers have their team jetting all over the globe chasing MacGuffins--a casino heist in Macau, a boat chase thru Venice, a HALO jump into Manhattan--but this series focuses on one or two locations and walk thru a plausible mission with complications. It lets the author flesh out the location and helps immersion.

The action is also what you might expect from someone who's actually been in combat. Intense, but nothing harebrained or spontaneous to the point of foolishness. And no unnecessary brinksmanship.

The reader is fine as well. He has different voices for the various team members and his accents are good.

Looking foreword to the fourth book next month.

dutchess is annoying

slow storyline, not as good as the previous ones. There is only so much you can put in a thriller storyline before it sounds like more of the same plotline.

Team almost succeeds, narrow miss, Dutchess cops out and denies ROE, team disobeys, narrowly escapes and accomplishes objective, end of story. clever the first few times and becomes predictable by the third book.

Fast paced and entertaining

I've found a new author to follow. Have always been a fan of Tom Clancy but this is much better. No slow areas to build the story, you jump in with action at the start. Action till the end
Hard to put down.

A true thriller in the world of government espionage. The team and political dynamics keeps you wanting to listen. Great story so close to actual National agendas around the world

Action packed installment!

It is easy to say this latest episode in Jason Kaspar’s Shadow Strike Series is the best yet. As these stories go on the stories get richer, the action gets more intense and the investigation into finding Eric Weiss begins to get clearer. In the case of Covert Kill, I received a review copy of the audiobook from the publisher not only was the story excellent as I have alluded to earlier, I got an excellent introduction to Corey M. Snow. Mr. Snow’s narration added a dimension to this story that was missing in the previous Shadow Strike stories that I have read. This leads me to believe listening to the previous books would be an excellent undertaking.
