About this listen

Kieran O'Regan was responsible for hunting down killers. Now he's become one of the dead: his decapitated body has been found in a graveyard, a tin whistle stuffed into his throat.

O'Regan was due to give evidence at a trial for police corruption. His gruesome murder sends a clear message to whistleblowers: only silence is safe. DCI Katie Maguire is determined to uncover the truth. But corruption in the Garda stretches back decades. As more officers are horrifically silenced, Katie must decide whom she can trust....

Story good but narrator not great

I like the Katie McGuire books despite the fact that they are very graphic, sometimes too graphic, more in the style of Masterton’s horror fiction. However, the narrator constantly mis-reads words which is irritating.

Overall good but not keen on the quality of the narration.

Excellent Narration
Overall series is gripping, too graphic in parts, obligatory sex scenes are cringeworthy..and sometimes I want to shake Katie for her lack of insight..but still I listen..

Excellent narrator

The story is great but what really makes it an enthralling listen is the talent of the narrator. Not only does she achieve a captivating flow, but the range of voices and accents is extraordinary making it easy to distinguish characters and their affect.

So well written, loved this book from beginning to the end ...

Reading all of the Katie Mcguire stories, you actually get attached to the characters in these stories. They are so well written. Thank you Graham Masterston ...

Much better

Yes the gory bits. Are pretty gruesome but thank the gods the overly desperate sex scenes involving Katie and whoever takes her fancy have been mutes. Shame you had to go on about the criminal woman's weight and body shape all the time... Not all of your readers are thin, mr masterton and this did creep into the offensive, there. Are other ways of describing a woman other than beautiful with big knockers or she's fat and ugly .. But you're getting there slowly. A good storyline,

Still listening

Not much to say, I’m still listening but I think it’s for the narration (by a favourite of mine) and the fact it’s almost over!

Cringey sex scenes

I like the characters and i think the narrator is excellent to my untuned non-Irish ears.

Katie is occasionally annoying but I still download and enjoy the stories but please oh please no more cringing sex descriptions!! They seem so unnecessary.

Spellbinding

This is my SECOND listen of the Katie McGuire series; it has made me realise that the narrator is key - and this particular story has everything. it is a no holds barred masterpiece of both writing and of narration. it leaves you emotionally bereft but easier to find out what happens next… simply stunning

Another Great Story

Once again Graham Masterton excels himself. This book has all you’d expect it’s got crime, gore and a great storyline.

It’s left me wanting more.
