Summary

2022 Audible’s Best in Fantasy

The living cannot be allowed to infect the dead.

Adam Binder has lost what matters most to him. Having finally learned the true identity of the warlock preying on his family, what was supposed to be a final confrontation with the fiend instead became a trap that sent Adam’s beloved Vicente into the realm of the dead, where none living are meant to be.

Bound by debt, oath, and love, Adam blazes his own trail into the underworld to get Vicente back, and to end the threat of the warlock once and for all. But the road to hell is paved with far more than good intentions. Demons are hungry, and ghosts are relentless, and what awaits Adam in the underworld is nothing he is prepared to face.

If that weren’t enough, Adam has one more thing he must do if he and Vicente are to return to the world of the living: find the lost heart of Death herself.

arrastado

dos três da série este foi o mais arrastado, se demorou demais em muitas partes mas é bom ver que todo mundo terminou feliz

Weakest book of the 3 but a great series overall

The narration saved a story that went off plot a few times. There is such a huge wealth of possibilities with the world the author has created but that was barely dipped into and far too much air time is given to the Adam and Vic relationship. Yes it’s great to see a same sex partnership but wow was it overdone. I really hope that the author returns to this world and fully explores the background brilliance he has created. The first book was so fresh but it just all sort of drifted after that.

Loved the book series, but…

I loved book one and two. Good story in book 3 but a lot of repetition. I think the book would be half the length if the author had not written the same thing over and over again. And trusted the audience to remember stuff from book one and two. A little is ok but when you hear it for the 30 time it’s just painful. But all the books are worth checking out.

Great series

Really enjoyed listening to the Adam Binder series. Slayton's take on the sometime complicated family dynamics and love all wrapped up in a little bit of magic.

fabulous read

WARNING: Contains hints that could be spoilers, and outright spoilers.

I've read (listened to) all 3 books in the series now, and what a worthwhile ride! No battles for the sake of it, meaningfulness and a compelling storyline threaded throughout. My critiques are minor... has no one noticed what a TERRIBLE negotiator Adam is? : ) Why hasn't anyone in the books pointed this out? Sarah gets a LOT for free. Too much! I mean, couldn't he at least have gotten a car out of it? : )

Anther super cool thing in the books: The love triangle was rapidly resolved. Adam is too smart to go for someone just cuz he is an awesome, magical being.

The mundane, every day magic is the option of choosing connection, fulfillment, and moving on kindly. Couldn't agree more. Loved these books!!!!!

I feel uplifted by this series. Thank you, author, director and narrator. Ab fab! 😄

Great finale

I have loved this trilogy – from the family drama, the Fantasy, the vivid descriptions of magical realms, and the romance. This story has kept me engrossed from start to finish. Listen to all three in order. What a fantastic find

Boring

Was looking forward to the third book, but found it excruciatingly boring. There were so many interesting ideas in the first two books, and I thought the author would explore the worlds he created, but it was all boring non-story “he said” “she said” full of boring two dimensional characters. Returned for refund

REPETITIVE

No need to read book 1 and 2 since this one recaps them. Several times. Over and over. Also no need to read most of this book, as it repeats itself add nauseam. Had the editor done their job, this book would be a short story.

If you love the series, you'll still love it

I already loved the writing style, I thought this was a great story progression too. We got to know the characters better, tropes were avoided and things didn't feel 'fixed' magically quick. Also loved the structure of the story as a journey

Fantastic Trilogy

Just finished the third in the series of Adam Binder. An outstanding story with moving and challenging reflections on community, prejudice and love lighting the darkness.
I just couldn’t stop listening as the narrator was also amazing.
Treat yourself - it is great.
