About this listen

DESIRE, REVENGE & MURDERA DETECTIVE FIGHTING FOR SURVIVAL

In an untouched corner of Craynebrook, the lifeless body of a local farmer is found, his blood mingling with the mud of Blackbird Farm. For Detective Inspector Matthew Stannard, still nursing wounds from a brutal assault, this grisly scene marks the beginning of an investigation unlike any he’s worked on before.

As Matthew begins to unravel the clues, he finds himself caught up in a web of denials. Troubled by doubts, and grappling with his own physical and mental frailty, Matthew knows he needs all his wits about him if he's to see through the lies and uncover the truth.

But as the investigation deepens, danger surrounds him. Matthew is being hunted by his elusive assailant and is forced to defend himself against an official complaint that threatens to destroy his reputation and put an end to his career.

With danger lurking at every turn and enemies closing in on all sides, Matthew must battle to unmask the killer and restore his reputation before it's too late.

Book 3 in the DI Matthew Stannard British detective fiction series.

Real mystery

I loved this book it is a real murder mystery in the sense that there are many suspects and plots happening at the same time.
I would go so far to say this is maybe the best police mystery I have listened to this year

Excellent.

This is an excellent third book in the Detective Inspector Matthew Stannard series. This time a much under par Matthew is investigating the death of a non too popular farmer whilst fighting his own nemesis who is out to murder him. The story is well written with a wealth of good characters, good old fashioned police procedural. As it is set in 1930 there is much going on that would not be tolerated today. Michael Langan's narration is impeccable and makes a good book even better. Highly Recommended and I hope there will be more in this series.
I was kindly given a copy of the book by the narrator and leave this honest unbiased review.
