About this listen
An original novel by A.L. Kennedy featuring the Fourth Doctor, as played by Tom Baker in the BBC TV series.
Something distinctly odd is going on in Arbroath. It could be to do with golfers being dragged down into the bunkers at the Fetch Brothers' Golf Spa Hotel, never to be seen again.
It might be related to the strange twin grandchildren of the equally strange Mrs Fetch – owner of the hotel and fascinated with octopuses. It could be the fact that people in the surrounding area suddenly know what others are thinking, without anyone saying a word. Whatever it is, the Doctor is most at home when faced with the distinctly odd. With the help of Fetch Brothers' Junior Receptionist Bryony, he'll get to the bottom of things. Just so long as he does so in time to save Bryony from quite literally losing her mind, and the entire world from destruction.
Because something huge, ancient and alien lies hidden beneath the ground – and it's starting to wake up....

Quite dull.
Quite dull, written by someone trying too hard to sound like Douglas Adams. I made it to the end but really didn't care whether or not I did.

More for laughs than drama
If you could sum up Doctor Who: The Drosten's Curse in three words, what would they be?
Funny, engrossing, silly
What was one of the most memorable moments of Doctor Who: The Drosten's Curse?
The whole book evokes memories of the Douglas Adams era
Have you listened to any of Clare Corbett’s other performances? How does this one compare?
Na
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Unstoppable
Any additional comments?
Being wrongly advertised as a 12th doctor story is only mildly annoying in this fun romp. Douglas Adams would surely enjoy this volume as is fondly tries to pay homage to one of doctor whos funniest authrs. Its a slapstick comedy that does little to raise ghe dramatic stakes but despite this, its a very enjoyable listen. Top marks.

More fantasy than science fiction
It took a while getting going. I would like an abridged version, as the story line is fine and imaginative, but rather repetitive in parts.
Somewhat marred by weird music, which intruded on the narrator.
Worth a try if you have patience.

NOT a 12th Doctor book
What would have made Doctor Who: The Drosten's Curse better?
This is not a 12th Doctor story as listed by Audible, it is a story for Tom Bakers 4th Doctor.

Briony dying in a fire
What will your next listen be?
Something not by A.L.Kennedy
What does Clare Corbett bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
Her excellent voice makes the awful experience less painful
You didn’t love this book--but did it have any redeeming qualities?
Not really
Any additional comments?
4th Doctor reduced to a side character in favor of a Mary-Sue companion. Moffat might love it but i sure didnt!
