About this listen
September 1920.
A young bride is discovered dead at a country house on her wedding day. Has she fallen victim to the deadly Withington curse, which strikes down any woman who marries into the family?
Forensic Pathologist Dr Bernard Spilsbury doesn't believe in such superstitions, and suspects a more earthly reason for Theodora Tupper's death.
But as he and his trusty assistant Violet investigate, they soon discover that there are indeed ghosts at Withington Hall. And they, too, have a story to tell...©2024 D.L. Douglas (P)2024 Orion Publishing Group Limited

Enjoyable story
I enjoyed this audiobook better than the first one. The story plot was good, although I thought was easy to spot the murderer it didn't spoil the enjoyment as there were twists and turns. Great to listen to while I was doing my craft work.

In my top 10 of authors and narrators
I've listened to a large number of murder mystery books, as I find them a relaxing distraction from my stressful line of work. I agree with another reviewer in that I would give the two Dr Spilsbury books more than 5 stars if I could. Having listened to so many books and preferring historic ones, it's getting a bit more difficult to find ones this good! The crafting of the relationships between the characters is very good. Too often, authors think that a clever plotline is all that matters the combination of depths of relationships and a good plot helps. But also the plots of both books have all kinds of twists and turns that make listening addictive. The narrator, John Telfer, is very good in this series. I hope that DL Douglas has further Dr Spilsbury's Books in the pipeline and that John Telfer continues to narrate. Finding the first two Dr Spilsbury books has been a real treat.
