About this listen

Love is the deadliest lie.

I never meant to start a war....

Then I fell for the boy my mother warned me about.

To me, he was Matty.

To the world, he was Mateo Cortes, soulless killer for the Carrera Cartel.

We were the virgin and the villain.

The debutante and the devil.

He swore we'd end in ruin.

I swore love would conquer all.

I was wrong.

One costly mistake and I’m given 30 seconds to decide my fate….

Inmate or informer.

Four years ago, I ran for my life.

Now, I’ve returned to claim it.

My devil will come for me….

And God help anyone who gets in his way.

Leighton and Mateo!

Leighton finds herself in an untenable position and her prime concern is ensuring the safety of those she cares about. She goes to her brother Brody for help but even if he doesn’t know everything that has transpired. She knows that the days ahead are going to be difficult but she wasn’t expecting to face the man who left her devastated when she was a teenager.

The last four years haven’t been easy for Mateo as well, but he is now second in command in the Carrera Cartel. He didn’t realize that Brody’s sister was the woman who twisted his life up as a teenager and based on their first meeting nothing has changed.

The feelings between them are stronger than ever but being surrounded by so many people with different agendas it will have them questioning who they can trust and that includes each other. Hot chemistry, intrigue and captivating characters as Leighton and Mateo take us on an action packed ride. The choice of the narrators were a perfect choice as they managed to bring out both the sensitive and strong side of the characters personalities. 🎧Audiobook Obsession

4.5 stars

This is my first read by this author and I was able to follow the story easily (this is the second in a series) and I could barely put this down. It was such an intense read. The second chance element, the family and Mafia element, all kept me gripped to the end. This was a fantastic read and the narrators were incredibly well matched. I'd love to read book 1 in this series and anything else by this author because this was so engaging. I volunteered to listen and review a complimentary copy of this. All opinions are my own.

Great 2nd book

This is a great second book! Not as dark I think as the first but still unpauseable. The narration was perfection. I love Sarah’s voice so much. And Aaron is just insane - everything he does is brilliant. His Spanish accent was tastefully done as well. Definitely worth a listen!

I was provided a free copy of this audiobook, and this review is my own.

A thrilling ride!

Faded Gray Lines is incredibly written and thoroughly captivating; an action-pack, suspenseful, and well-crafted star-crossed cartel romance, that hooks your right from the start. The storyline is wrapped in secrets, deception, intrigue, and enemies lurking in corners. The unexpected twists and turns made the story unpredictable; it had me guessing the entire time. The characters, Mateo, and Leighton are genuine and totally authentic; it's impossible not to get emotionally invested in them. They're magnetic, and their story is absolutely fantastic; and the chemistry is palpable, one of passion and mutual desire.

Aaron Shedlock and Sarah Puckett are true voice artists. They slipped perfectly into the characters pulling me right into the story. I was fully absorbed into Mateo and Leighton's world. All in all, Faded Gray Lines is unbelievably engaging, a thrilling and memorable ride, one I'll highly recommend.

My Thoughts on Faded Gray Lines

If I could give this story more than five stars I would. It was so good. The suspense and danger and just perfect plotting and pacing kept me hooked. The twists and turns that kept popping up in the storyline were perfectly placed to make me not want to stop listening. And then when you throw in Aaron Shedlock and his fantastic accent and Sarah Puckett and her overall amazing skills you have a winner for me. Mateo and Leighton were great characters and even though I've only listened to two Cora Kenborn books so far, those two made such a good impression that I know I'm going to need much more. I especially look forward to more in this series.

Keeps getting better and better

This is the second book on the Carrera Cartel series, and let me tell you is better than that first. We get Mateo and Leighton's story in this one, and their chemistry is off the charts. The storyline hooked me from the start, there is a lot of lies, deception, and revenge that kept me entertained. I got the audiobook version and let me tell you that Aaron Shedlock and Sarah Puckett did a fantastic job with this book, they are both extremely good narrators, and I love the way they portrayed Mateo and Leighton. Worth getting it in audio.

Mateo is my new favorite anti-hero!

Loved Mateo, a member of a Houston drug cartel, who falls in love with Leighton, a corrupt politician’s daughter. Everyone has secrets, and the double-crosses will keep you guessing who can really be trusted in this criminal underworld. This story is fast-paced and well written. Aaron Shedlock and Sarah Puckett do an excellent job bringing these characters to life. Excellent book!

Mateo and Leighton

Leighton loved a dangerous man once. He left her. Or so she thinks. Now their paths cross again and this time she needs protection. There’s a lot of intrigue in this story, action and also a romance that recapitulates years after. These two are so great together, and even when the plot thickens there is a light for them. Mateo is a ruthless killer but that won’t Leighton from loving him. There’s twists and turns that kept me on edge. I so enjoyed this one. The narrators did well, specially that sexy drawl when the speak Spanish.
