Story
Anna was never anything like those "real" runners on telly, but when she read about New Zealand’s 3,000-kilometer-long Te Araroa Trail, she began to wonder...perhaps being a "real" runner was overrated. Maybe she could just run it anyway? The Pants of Perspective is a witty, colorful, and at times painfully raw account of a journey to the edge of what a woman believes herself to be capable of. It is a coming-of-age story that will lead you on a roller-coaster ride through fear, vulnerability, courage, and failure.

Inspiring!
Fantastic female adventurers by Lily Dyu, narrated by Amy Putt, is a fantastic collection of concise tales of epic female adventures, of all shapes and sizes.
This book already had lots of hype when I managed to get my excited hands on it, and it definitely lived up to that! The opening summary of the women's stories that the book focusses on immediately gets you excited about the things to come, and nicely sets the scene for the reasons behind the book, and why it is important to celebrate these feats.
The narrator Amy Putt has good emphasis, a clear voice, and a slightly quicker cadence than I am used to, but it was ok to follow and I quickly got used to it. Occasionally the pauses at the end of a sentence wasn't quite long enough, but it wasn't a big issue for me once I settled in to her rhythm. There is a subtle use of various accents to discern between quotes and narrative which is useful.
Starting out as it means to go on, the book cuts to the chase and from the very first story is gripping and awe-inspiring. Assuming nothing, Fantastic Female Adventurers is perfect for young and old alike to get inspired by female power, determination, and pure grit.
It doesn't shy away from talking about how these incredible women juggle families, emotions, and more on top of pushing themselves to the limit and pursuing what they believe in.
Great to listen to in stages, fantastic variety of adventures, circumstances, and achievements, but also perfect and easy to listen to in one sitting. Extremely enjoyable!

An inspiring book - play it in the car to the kids
An inspiring children's book with some really interesting stories about a variety of woman. primarily aimed at the plus 7/8 year old market this book is a good investment in time for any young to teen age children, especially boys as it does highlight the endeavours of woman in a positive and inspiring way - something their typical reading does not.
The messages of adventure, danger, conservation, community, compassion, failure, relationships, parenting, companionship, support and friendship come through in the stories. Space travel, trail running, cycling, bikes, round the world travel, climbing, Everest and sailing all feature strongly.
I played it in the car to my 14 year old son. A good move.
Highly recommended.
