Summary
Feminism is a quest for the liberation of women from patriarchy. Feminism strives for a world in which women are not oppressed. Feminism prioritises exposing and ending male violence towards women and girls.
This is Julie Bindel's feminism, a definition born of 40 years at the front line of the feminist movement. Why then, she asks, is feminism the only social justice movement in the world that is expected to prioritise every other issue before pursuing its own objective of women's liberation? Why does the movement appear to be moving backwards, accommodating the rights and feelings of men and leaving women in the cold? Women make up half the global population, yet why is feminism still treated as a minority movement?
In this searing and groundbreaking book, Bindel deconstructs the many pervasive myths about feminism - Do women really want what men have? Can men be feminists? Are women liberated by sexual violation? - assessing whether feminism has achieved its goals and debunking theories that second wave feminism is irrelevant and one-dimensional.
Bindel shines a light on the most important issues, including pornography, sexual violence and prostitution. Drawing on Bindel's own experiences, as well as countless interviews with women and girls of all ages and backgrounds (as well as contributions from commentators such as Gloria Steinem and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie), Feminism for Women presents a clear-sighted view of why feminism is a proud social movement that every woman on the planet benefits from.
The invisible forces of misogyny affect us all.
This book is a call to arms to reclaim feminism for all women.
Only together can we resist and overcome.

I'm a man and I loved this book
What a fantastic book. if you're looking for well researched and logical arguments for the liberation of woman then this is for you. No topic escapes Bindel's intelligent and determined gaze. Need a reasoned critique of 'trans issues' look no further. Want a view from the coalface of campaigning for womens rights over decades? This is for you. Some of her points threw up more questions for me and maybe we'll never agree 100% but an absolute solid gold eye opener nonetheless. Woman or Man, read this book and get your placards out.
P.S. For the record, I'm not a feminist. I can't be. I'm a man.

A must read for every woman
Whether you agree with 2nd wave feminism or not this is a fantastic book and essential to understand the roots of modern feminism. Julie is a joy to listen too, I'm pleased she read it herself, it made it all the more authentic.

Feminism has come so far but still has a long way to go
Thank you Julie Bindel
For being brave and speaking out to help protect us. You are an inspiration.
A call to action for everyday acts of rebellion against the patriarchy. And thank you for fully explaining how men can manipulate and twist everything to maintain power especially with all the current trans rows.
It seems that the patriarchy always feels it needs to be right despite evidence and logic and statistics.

A sad and yet wholly accurate book
A difficult read in some places because of the absolute honesty about the lives of many, many women on this planet. I am aware as I write this that there will be some people who will have read this book, or in this case listened to this book, with a name to criticise it. I feel that it was very well read and that it is a timely reminder of the need to remember that feminism is still important.

The Godmother of Feminism
Feminism 101 - no filler, no waste, no bull. Julie hits the nail on the head on every page(audio wise!). It is uncomfortable for us men to realise the extent of the sexism and privilege we exude but it is argued convincingly and honestly by JB. The violence of prostitution/sexual abuse etc that women and girls face is the crisis we all need to face up to and defeat. Brava Julie!

Disappointing, and frankly just sad
I wanted to listen to this book to understand the perspective of feminists with whom I generally do not agree with. Sadly, instead of broadening my horizons with sound arguments I was met with a holier than thou attitude.
When describing the 'opposition' instead of rationally arguing why they are wrong, the writer just belittled them in the majority of the time, without giving any rhyme or reason. Even in the rare occasions when she attempted to argument on a topic, it was full with logical fallacies.
Besides, she was constantly moaning about being deplatformed while technically demanding other people not to be heard (you guessed it, without any proper reasoning). You can not have it both ways.
At the end, I am just really sad, because some great and important ideas were buried under her hateful mess of a book.
