Summary
A victim of crime may actually be a criminal in this twisting tale of psychological suspense by the author of Devil's Play.
When Sophie Macreavey wakes up in the hospital, suffering from stab wounds, detectives are quick to question her—hoping to make sense of the horrific scene where she was found. Sophie's adoptive parents and sister are dead. Her brothers are missing. Sophie can't remember anything—but reveals the abusive nightmare she's been through as part of the family. The social worker assigned to her case eventually brings Sophie home, but soon notices discrepancies in Sophie's story. She claims she hadn't been allowed to use technology, yet there's a social media account, extensive messages between herself and a boy and videos of Sophie online. The more that comes out, the worse it looks for Sophie. She has told some lies. But will the full truth be uncovered?

Very repetitive story.
This could have been a lot shorter if the author had not repeated themes over abd over.

Thrilling and emersive
Couldn't stop listening. Good story with all the twists and turns you'd want from a thriller. Going to look for another Sarah Sheridan to listen to. Highly recommend

Emotional and intruiging.
This story is laced with sadness at the plight of the main character, yet it is full of intruige as to whether everything is as it seems. The story is well delivered with a good twist.

Well I never….
I would not have chosen this style of book but thought I would give it a go as it was in my Plus catalog. I nearly stopped listening but persisted, it did get more interesting and drew me along at a reasonable pace and the story did want you to know the end.
The last 30 mins or so ‘solved’ the mystery and all my guesses were wrong :-)
I may look out for these type of books, but hope it was not a ‘big reveal’ in the last few chapters.

could have done without the swearing
Ok story. it was annoying at the end to have the whole plot explained so precisely and the needless swearing grated.

Good story but some strange plot holes
So there were two massive for me plot holes in this book, I am not going to spoil it but once I just told myself that it doesnt matter and one I could see why otherwise the story would have gone in a different direction, the second came down to football research and I cant see how the editor didnt pick it up it wasnt central to the plot and could have easily been changed.
Apart from that it was an interesting listen and I am glad I listened to it it kept me engrossed and interested.
Yes there was swearing but for me it felt like that it was that generation.
Well narrated

Far-fetched
I persisted so as not to waste the cost of purchase. The character were unlikeable; confusing plot at times.

So many needless f-words
I’m not completely against swearing in books, but it does become irritating when it’s in almost every other sentence and makes the author seem immature. Some parts are quite boring, not an easy listen. The emotions of the main character aren’t believable; combination of writing and narration at fault here I think.
