Not really a Lit

This is really not a Lit, sure you have stats, but it means little to nothing when the author lets the MC carry around poison that can defeat anything, even monsters 20+ levels above him. Also, why prop up Thieves, Pirates and murderers put them on a pedestal? So many issues with this book, the characters are not likeable and they are very one dimensional. Then they go after a Scylla because moron got himself a spear that he has never used once, so he go's to visit a fate to get a quest for it. He doesn't prepare at all for it, doesn't gather any information on it. Just goes off the very next day looking to kill something blindly without knowing anything. .

Trash MC yet again! Return!!!

This is another trash of a LitRPG. I will be returning this one, I'm so sad that most of these new litrpg just seem to be ban wagon people and have no idea how to write one. Not because, you put stats in doesn't mean it's a litrpg. SMH enough said for all you who love it, hey go for it, but once you hear a real litrpg like something done by Aleron Kong or JF Brink you will see the difference. This is a big fat return.

One Dimensional Character

On the whole, I find the protagonist, Kairos, thoroughly uninspired, shallow and predictable in his selfishness. His colossal ego is eclipsed only by his titanic arrogance. Kairos is just aggravating and I quit the book after a battle scene where he is so upset and confused when a mother defends her child almost to the death. He calls it barbaric that she would not listen to reason and rather die than be captured, when his forces killed half the town’s men, women and children… even complaining that he is deafened from the screams of people he just had immolated during her kidnapping.

Kairos is 18, and like most self-absorbed teenagers, he believes that there is nothing you can say, teach, or show, because he already knows everything.

The entire cast of characters is one-dimensional and lacking in growth, but Kairos somehow manages to get under your skin at the same time.

Interesting Greek LitRPG

A very interesting and enjoyable read. This story combines LitRPG and Greek legend into a truly pleasurable read. The love life is very interesting and filled with drama, hopefully it does not end in true Greek fashion.

Interesting Story Concept

The idea of the story is quite interesting, but damn is the writing bad! Flip flopping between modern English and "proper" English just grates my ears, and English is not my native language!

This is also not a LitRPG in the least. Throwing in some "stats" and "abilities" with numbers attached to them, then tossing in the usage of these "skills" every now and then, and calling the book a LitRPG is a disgrace.

I'm not even going to talk about any of the intimate scenes! The cringe is real, and I'm not sure the author has any experience.

Save your money, don't bother buying this.

A nice place to vacation

This is a "And then, and then, and then" kind of story first and foremost. There is an overarching goal for the MC but it's pretty vague and there isn't any shape to it until he "learns" things through his and his companions quests. I think that's where a lot of the complaints come from in other reviews. The MC is fairly static because it's about him reacting to the situations he his put in instead of situations he seeks out. If you don't like Kairos at the beginning of the book, you aren't going to like him at the end.

The main star here is the world that Mr.Durand builds. It's just an interesting place to be. It feels as if it has a history but is yet to really be explored. In essence, it's a new take on ancient Greek myth but there is enough new here that I really enjoyed my time with the book. I will be picking up the second.

A week (but serviceable) game structure
Some fat to the book, but serves to add to the world

Take the story elements... just not the characters

This is mostly a good story... well... ... it has great story elements!

Ancient Greece LitRPG? oh im in!!!
...and not historical ancient Greece, this is the full on mythos version with minotaurs, Hydras, Jason and the Argo! I mean trully awesome stuff!

Amazing performance (as always) from Eric Michael Summerer?! of course!!!

But when you actually get into the story it is lacking in depth.

Not much in the way of actual game lit like stats, progression, or explanation of the system that is clearly in place

interesting idea overall but I wish they had just taken all of the story elements and collaborated with (or given it to) someone who is good at writing people who seem real at all and can weave that detail through this awesome world... because the world is awesome

No one speaks this way... nicknames and pet names running rampant throughout, a character that call our MC Kairos "O,my captain" like it's his title... he doesnt say "O, my captain" in response to anything or to begin an address or statement, he says it as if its his name. Takes me out of it every time

This is the 4th book ive gotten from this author and they all have that in common. Fun and interesting world populated by unrealistic, boring, or cringey characters

The story is actually good

The three stars is because although i cant put it into words on exactly why, im 6 hours in and hate Kairos as a person. Im fully convinced that if i met him id walk the other way. He isnt an asshole or anything its more like the type of stuff that made you stop hanging out with someone in highschool. Even if they view you positively its like they think they own you. That might not be right though, just a similar vibe. Idk. Just rubs me the wrong way.

Great setting, interesting premise, clunky dialog

A great setting and "oodles" of creativity make for a fun premise, but a lack of contractions makes the dialog feel stilted and clunky. In real life, people don't say "do not." They say "don't." When read aloud, this pattern makes dialog sound overly formal and 'canned'. In addition, the story meanders around in the not-unpleasant fashion of a tourist, but the ensuing pacing issues tended to drop the tension with fair regularity, and I found myself struggling to stay engaged. Finally, there is too much "tell" and not enough "show," which exacerbated the boredom. Still, there were some great "one-liners" sprinkled throughout and a fantastic setting that give me hope for the future of this series, so I will be continuing to keep an eye on this one.

good but hard to keep track

the characters is not 1 dimensional. the power system is not hard numbers. characters don't have plot armor to an extent.

only down side to this book is that there are so many factions and characters. sometimes its hard to keep track of what is what and who is who
