Really good book with a good premise.

Fun fact. Kerberos/Cerberus means spotty. so having a Cerberus called spot means it's called spot the spotty.

epic fantastic outstanding

fantastic book overall great storyline epic well building and great characters have over 300 audiobooks and this must be at least in the top three the author has great imagination well worth your time and effort

Top tier, worthy of being called a modern epic.

Fantastically written, fully fleshed out characters with real weight added to the story. This author has true talent.

Not as good as Perfect Run

This wasn't necessarily a bad book but there were a lot of bad parts. On the good side: it was an innovative idea, the protagonist was active and not crippled by angsty, the dialogue was generally good and the settings were well described. The MC makes mistakes and shows development throughout.

On the medium side it is a bit if a power fantasy with the MC getting powers/levels on a very regular basis. He also seems to get whatever he needs as and when he needs it which was a bit painful.

On the bad side the author paints OP's relationship as true love when it is really toxic (spoilers)
- Their first hook-up with her holding him at knifepoint
- She said she'd kill herself if he died.
- She said she'd kill all his friends/family if he left
- She has killed many of his men and allowed others to die avoidably
- She calls him her soulmate/other half within like a week of dating.

I couldn't sympathise with the OP picking her, a monster with squid legs, as his concubine rather than his loyal, trusted first mate who is attracted to him like he is to her, who understands him instinctively and who he trusts with his life.

Honestly, the dodgy relationships are the main reason I won't be reading amy more of these. The pacing is far too fast too. Always hopping straight from one thing to another.

The narration was great but overall, I would not recommend the book.

Off to book 2. I recommend this series and if one enjoy ancient history and myth it's all the better.

Already preordered book 2

This is a well written story. It reminds me of those ancient Greek myths I used to read, listen or watch as a child. However, there's a twist because of lvs. But don't let that scare you off because it is not lv intensive.

The book contains, fierce battles on both the land and the sea, plotting similar to game of thrones, gods and magic.

Minor spoiler, it does contain sex scenes. But you can't have a greek story without sex scenes.

modern language and non sensical

i know that computer game / rpg style stories are all the rage now but its just gone too far. the story became just about the rank and special skills the characters gained. with such rich source material the auther still made this a shallow world. people are invincible until they are not. characters are very dull. dont know i will buy the second one. last note. using modern style language in a book baised in a ancinet style enviroment just clangs.

Boring, uninspired and shallow.

After lining to "The Perfect Run" and enjoying that series quite a lot i decided to purchase this audiobook expecting something on similar level.
Instead i was thrown into a story that felt like it was missing half of it content.
The rules making it "litrpg" are so pointless that they could be removed completely and i think it would actually improve the experience.
From the start and i was feeling like i missed either a whole book or few chapters at the very beginning.
What we are being told later explain some of the word and mechanics but its confusing and just feeling shallow - as if it was put in place by force in place of 'classic' magic system.
But the biggest problem for me was the main character. He is a shallow as one can be and lives thru most of the encounters only because author made him into a Mary Sue.
He have no personality of his own instead he could be replaced by a brick of salt and it would made for more enjoyable story.

Everything progresses so fast and in so very forced and unnatural ways that at times i was pausing the audiobook from pure frustration.
Not a single character death made me feel anything. It was like a **** in the wind.

Honestly whoever come up with the script for this story should go back and try to read/listen to this book again from start to finish.
Then in shame remove it from this store and rewrite it again from the start.

This setting have a potential but not this story and certainly not with this protagonist. Thru the book i just wanted this entitled shell of a character to perish more then the people he fought against...

I dont know what happened between "The Perfect Run" and this book to the writer skills...
