Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

Order the enthralling new story of murder and lies from the number one Sunday Times best-selling author of You'll Never See Me Again.

In a Shepherd's Bush bedsit, Amelia White dreams of being a reporter. The closest she's come is selling advertising in the local paper.

Until the fateful day she stumbles on a truly shocking scoop.

Round the corner from her home, she discovers the body of a murder victim, dumped among the rubbish. When the police and reporters descend, Amelia is horrified at the assumptions made and lies soon to be spread about this poor young woman.

Determined to protect the victim from these smears and help her grieving family, she convinces her paper's editor to allow her to take up her pen and tell the true story. But when another body is found and the police investigation stalls, Amelia - uncovering new witnesses and suspects in her search for clues - discovers that she may be the only one with any chance of learning the truth and stopping more killings.

If only she can work out who the liar is.

What's happened to Lesley Pearse novels??

I don't know if it because I'm now listening to Lesley Pearse books rather than reading them but agree with one of the reviews that this book (and her last few) did not feel like a Lesley Pearse book. When I think back to the Belle Series and other greats like Trust Me, Remember Me, Never Look back....this just does not compare. I always used to be totally enthralled with Lesley Pearse stories but Liar is quite dull and predictable and did not really hold my interest. I didn't feel invested in any of the characters. It was strange in that it made reference to the 70's but the descriptions put me in mind of the 50's. Overall this story felt half hearted and as if not much thought had gone into it and left me wondering sadly if LP has simply ran out of material :(

Disappointing

I was really looking forward to listening to this book, as I didn’t enjoy the last few, and was really hoping this would be better, sadly it wasn’t. I would suggest the earlier books, as the story lines, are a lot stronger, and the length of the books longer, I don’t think I will be listening to further books, from this author.

not up to Lesley's normal high standards .

I didn't feel like this was a Lesley Pearse book . I struggled to finish it . predictable from the start and just a weak story line in comparison to all of Lesley's other books . I was disappointed.
but I look forward to Lesley's next book .

Not the adventure I had hoped

Another good book by my favourite author, but sadly not the adventure I had hoped for. It was my first one as an audible too.. Which I won't do again. I'm new to audible and think will now end my subscription. I hated the male voice put on by a female narrator. Not the vivid voices I imagine in my own head when reading. Kind of spoilt it for me. Enjoyed it, but not my favourite.

Don’t bother with this.

Such a disappointment. Having listened to so many of Lesley Peace books my choices are now very limited as I have heard most. This has got to be the worst and if it was the first I doubt t would have purchased more. It’s hard to believe in the characters and the time line of events. It’s lacks body and didn’t hold my interest. If you are looking for a book from this author bypass this one it’s not worth a credit and certainly not worth purchasing.

Slightly disappointed

I somehow expected a little more from this story, I have found her earlier books better. But it was still a much better than average book for its genre. Comparison is the thief of joy perhaps?!

Don't judge Lesley Pearse by this book

I wouldn't normally criticise, but this book was so different from her usual writing... The characters all seem to wear their hearts on their sleeves, divulging their most innermost thoughts on first acquaintance, there is little to no character progression, the story is slow with no build up and very little intrigue and the police are ridiculously tolerant of the journalist's interference and not very effective. The characters all seem to have the same personality and I found it difficult to relate to them. The story is unbelievable and having read most of Lesley's other novels (and thoroughly enjoyed them) I find it hard to believe that she wrote this book.
